I have a theory about our beloved butterfly.

So, we all know the butterfly plays a crucial part in the comic, but what is that role? I believe that Sofi, David's little sister, is the butterfly.

Now, now. Before you come attacking me, hear me out. So, we know that a shadow figure pushed Monica off of a plank in the Prolouge.

This ties into another theory that that shadow is the demon from under the bridge. I'll get to that later. David was also attacked and bruised by a monster that tries to eat him, but the butterfly comes to the rescue.

When David's parents were trying to figure out how he got the bruises, Sofi claimed she knew.

This shows that Sofi had something to do with that monster in David's dream.

"Wait, wait a minute! Monica was pushed off the plank by a shadow. David was attacked by a monster. The two aren't related at all!" I'll explain.

I believe that the shadow is the demon from Delete. If you've read Delete, you know that the Demon wanted to eat David. Well, the monster from David's nightmare wanted to eat him too. Gosh, David is a very desirable specimen.

Anyway, the monster in David's nightmare, actually... "the monster in David's nightmare" sounds bland. Let's call it Boquisha. So, Boquisha had many eyes, very much like the demon.

My last piece of evidence is that the demon can shape shift. Okay, before you come at me saying how stupid that is, it's actually not far fetched at all.

In Delete, the demon turns from a little animal to his normal form.

And he also transformed into a shadow figure when he was under the bridge.

So, it's not too far fetched. The demon from Delete could possible be the same demon from David's nightmare, and the same shadow figure the pushed Monica off the plank.

Sofi being the butterfly sorta makes sense, too. How else would she know about the "shadow" the attacked David? And her saving him from the monster is what any sibling would do for another sibling, no matter the age.
