°°°°°°°°°History°°°°°°°°°
Andrew Rothshield. A second born son to the late Edward and Maria Rothshield, brought to the world in the very same castle he’d spent his childhood and adolescence, The Lion’s Den. True, in comparison to his brother’s (Lancelot’s) past, Andrew’s past proved less exciting and adventurous, which from a certain point of view wasn’t that bad. Already at an early age, the young Andrew had to deal with and accept the fact that he was in a subordinate position when it came to the topic of house hierarchy. Which wouldn’t have been so bad, had it not been for Lancelot’s constant bragging and showing off in front of the younger brother. But Andrew didn’t mind his brother’s swag even a little bit. As a child he was a lenient soul, always obedient when father would demand a task to be carried out, never asking too many questions and unlike his hot-tempered brother, Andrew rarely got into fights. He preferred solving conflicts with words back then as he does now.
When the second born turned fourteen of age, the mother of the house fell victim to a spreading plague across the kingdom. The exact source of this disease was unknown. The common folk blamed the nobility as they do always, but the nobility had fallen ill as much as the commoners did. Maria Rothshield, like hundreds of others, succumbed to the plague only days after its first symptoms appeared. Andrew watched as his mother was buried, he grieved, wept and mourned after his parent for weeks.
A year later the plague ravaging Valeron struck his older brother as well. Edward became desperate in search for a cure that would heal his son. Lancelot’s final hour approached quickly, and in a desperate attempt to save his heir, the head of house Rothshield struck a deal with a nefarious witch, Selene Von Todesmark. Andrew never found out how or for what the deal was struck, in the end it didn’t really matter. In a few hours Lancelot was healed and life seemed to resume its casual pace, as if nothing happened.
The years went on peacefully up north, with Andrew being trained to handle a sword and shield, while also being taught in the ways of knighthood. He seemed to have grown into a promising nobleman, polite and chivalrous like his brother and comionate like his mother. Edward took little notice of his second son’s growth, and it somewhat discouraged Andrew from time to time as he thought of his father having unworthy thoughts about his second born. In the years that came, Edward was slowly but surely consumed by an unknown madness. A madness that ultimately destroyed him and Lancelot (See Valeron and House Rothshield for more).
Not having come of age and being the only remaining member of House Rothshield, Andrew was taken in by the royal family, who were on good with their vassal, and was raised as a foster son to the king. While there were objections in the court among other nobility that feared that Andrew might be as insane as his father was, the last Rothshield proved them wrong. It took him five whole years, for the newly anointed knight who dedicated his life to his goal, to fix what his father had wrought. Starting with helping the poor by donating supplies and healing herbs to villages, and ending it with driving his sword through Selene’s vile heart. Or so he says. There were no eye witnesses when Andrew executed the evil sorceress, even more suspicious is that he doesn’t like to talk about it. Whenever people do push him enough to give an answer he only replies with “I had help.” or “She didn’t wear armour.” and shrugs you off.
