A few months after the...incident at the base, Misaki was walking through the city. He was out of uniform, and he honestly just wanted the day to himself. After the fiasco with the Red King, Saru had been both worried about him and pissed at him. The others...he thinks they were just irritated at him. And honestly? He couldn’t blame them. He’d messed up by letting the Red King just waltz out. Sure, he wouldn’t have been able to stop the man but he could have at least delayed him long enough for backup to arrive. Thankfully, his King had been understanding and let him leave after giving his report.
Munakata-san had always been understanding. Every time Misaki screwed something up, his King would always be there with an understanding glint in his eyes, a reassuring smile, and a gentle hand on his shoulder. He owed so much to the Blue King and he had nothing but respect and iration for his Captain. He may hate being at Scepter 4, but he could never and would never hate his King or even his clansmen. He understood why the others struggled so much to include him, but they would always at least make the effort to. He couldn’t resent them, just because he struggled to fit in.
The young man sighed, walking through the busy city streets and looking around. Oh. Oh shit. He didn’t recognize any of these buildings. He’d been so lost in thought that he’d ended up getting lost. Dammit. He sighed, then just as he turned his head to look in front of him, he ran into a large, solid chest and stumbled back. The Blue clansman looked up, then his eyes widened when he recognized the Red King, and glanced over to see that the King’s second and third in commands, Izumo Kusanagi and Tatara Totsuka, where walking alongside their King, and the little Strain, Anna, was clutching his hand.
Misaki blinked rapidly as he stared at the Red King, and the a flash of recognition went through the bigger man’s eyes. “You’re the little Blue pipsqueak from Scepter 4.” the man remarked lazily.
The small man blinked once as he processed that statement, then felt rage surge through him. He was not a pipsqueak! Sure he was short but that didn’t mean anything! (He had always been pissy about his size. Always. And people always seemed to find that immensely amusing. Screw them.)
“I am not a pipsqueak!”He barked angrily, glaring at the Red King. “You’re not that much bigger than I am! I bet I could kick your ass any day!” he snapped.
Then he realized what he’d just done. He had yelled at the Red King. But, to his surprise, the man didn’t seem offended. His eyes had widened slightly when the smaller man yelled, and then he’d given a lazily grin.
“You’ve got a temper on you, kid.” he chuckled. “What’s a hothead like you doing at a place like Scepter 4?” he mused.
Misaki frowned, then shrugged and decided to answer truthfully. “My best friend and I ed together. Munakata-san saved us both.”
The Red King hummed contemplatively at that, the gave a slight smirk and leaned over the smaller man, his Red Aura flaring up as clansmen watched curiously. Misaki didn’t flinch, but he had to fight his Aura back as it sought to react automatically. The Red King gave a lazy grin.
“Thought so. You didn’t flinch back then either. What, does the Red not burn you, kid?” He asked, looking genuinely curious.
Misaki sputtered for an answer, then looked down as the Strain stepped forward and spoke quietly. “It’s warm, isn’t it? Mikoto’s Red. It doesn’t burn. It feels safe.” she said softly.
Before he realized what he was saying, Misaki found himself answering her. “It is warm...” He mumbled softly.
The Red King arched an eyebrow. “You say that like the Blue isn’t.” he remarked, then his eyes narrowed he he saw the younger man rub a spot under the sleeve of his arm.
Tatara noticed too, and before the younger man could react, the cameraman was leaning into his space, grabbing his wrist and pulling back the sleeve to reveal the scar. Misaki flinched at that, then winced again when the Red King’s hand replaced the cameraman’s on his wrist.
“Kid, what the hell is this?” he asked.
“The Blue is cold.” was the only answer Misaki gave in reply, not meeting his gaze.
Mikoto let go of the younger’s wrist, frowning when he covered the mark with his sleeve again. “Kid, your Aura is never suppose to hurt you. It’s definitely not supposed to do enough damage to scar that badly.” Misaki just looked away and shrugged helplessly, to which Mikoto only snorted. “Head back to Scepter 4, kid.” he remarked.
At Misaki’s confused look, he jerked his head. “In case you’re lost, it’s back the way you came. About a ten minute walk that way, then you’ll be back in familiar territory. Now get.” he said tiredly, watching as the young man scrambled away.
Misaki cast a glance back at the Red King as he walked over, and he felt red eyes bore into his very being. There was something about the Red King, something about his Red. He felt himself...drawn to it. Like how Saru had described himself being drawn to the Blue. He had no clue what this meant and he was honestly kind of scared to find out.

Kusanagi looked at his King as the little Blue clansman left, frowning. “Oi, Mikoto, What the hell was that about?” He asked irritably.
Mikoto just shrugged, then took Anna’s hand again and started walking. “Kid didn’t flinch away either time I activated my Aura around him. Something tells me he doesn’t exactly belong at Scepter 4.”
Tatara gave a light, airy laugh. “You can say that again. His temper seems just about as bad as yours when you were young, Mikoto! Well, what we saw of it anyway.” he said cheerily.
Mikoto grunted. “Ah. I don’t know what’s going to happen to the kid, but I do know he’s interesting.” he smirked. “Kinda fun too. He’s a spitfire alright. Maybe we’ll run into him again.” he mused.
Kusanagi and Tatara looked at each other as their King headed hack towards the bar. Their King was definitely right. That kid was interesting. With any luck, maybe they’d run into him again.
Up ahead, Mikoto only smirked lazily. Yeah. From the way the kid had reacted to his Red, and even from the way his Aura itself had reacted, he could tell that anything involving that kid was bound to be interesting.

Omg I keep loving this AU more and more the more I read it, its beautifull.
I’m glad you like it! I’m planning for the next installment to include either a talk with Saruhiko, and then one with a confrontation with HOMRA.
