It was a dark night. Stars shimmered in my eyes as I looked up while sitting by the window.

"Are you looking up at the skies too hyungwon?"

"I miss you too much. " I mumbled with bittersweet tears in my eyes.

It has been 2 years since I've last seen my boyfriend hyungwon. He headed to Canada to study abroad and though we have always been keeping in touch, I miss him more and more by the day.

Sometimes, I want to cry into his chest. Other times, I wanted to cuddle with him during Christmas by the fireplace and drink hot chocolate. But I couldn't, and it really hurts.

I guess you could say I'm selfish, I really wish hyungwon didn't get that scholarship to go to canada. However, can you blame me? It's torturing every moment I see other couples, thinking it could be us. His touch is unfamiliar too, I can't the last time we hugged.

As I tried to brush the negative thoughts out of my head, I dried my tears.

"it's okay,"

"I'll see him soon... "

and with that I slowly drifted off to sleep.

I was awoken to the sound of my blaring alarm clock. I woke up in a daze, head still throbbing slightly after getting up. The only thing that could brighten my spirits was my everyday good morning message from hyungwon.

I smiled while patiently waiting for the sweet message.

It never came.

I couldn't lie that I was really disappointed. I felt sad, in a way that I couldn't describe. It wasn't the type of sad to make you want to break down. It was like, a candle waiting to be lit, but the flame never came.

I heard a ringtone on my phone. "because you're my star--" I hurriedly picked it up, hoping it was hyungwon. It was just my best friend, ryujin. I knew she had good intentions by heart and I felt bad for being disappointed. She called to check up on me and if I had gotten up.

"pabo are you up yet."

"I am, ryujin-ah"

"hmm, you seem kind of moody though. Are you ok?"

"I--" At that moment, I wanted to cry it out to her but I thought I didn't want to burden her with my problems.

"I'm fine. " I said in the most cheerful voice I could manage.

a day has ed.

Sitting on the couch, I was scrolling through my social media when I suddenly got a text from hyungwon. My heart skipped a beat as I warily clicked on the notification.

On line the messaging app,,,

Anyway, school work has been getting so hectic lately. I don't think I even have time to go back to Korea this year to see all of you.

I blinked back my tears but the worse thing was, that I wasn't surprised. Why would I be? He hasn't had time the past two years too.

You:

I love our everyday conversations, but this one broke my heart. I wouldn't be able to see my boyfriend for the third year in a row, I was devastated.

[Time skip]

✎Christmas Eve.

It was a grueling day at work. I decided to work extra since I didn't have any plans anyway. I was tired, and just wanted to get back home and rest. While walking to the bus stop I always go to, I noticed something, no, more like a someone, following me.

I quickened my pace, and sneaked some peeks to see the person that was following me.

He had a hoodie over his head and I couldn't see his face properly. He was tall and had long sturdy arms. As I was almost at the bus stop, I couldn't contain my terror and anger and just turned around. I lashed out at the creep.

"You creep, stop following me. I can call the authorities on you and I have a boyfriend that can beat you up. Get the hell away from me! " I huffed out, balling my fist while my nails dug into my skin.

The tall man walked closer, chuckling.

"You're so cute babe, I missed you so much. "

a familiar voice called out. He started to take off his hood and revealed his bright smile towards me.

"You're not real." Tears welled up in my eyes.

He wrapped his sturdy arms around me. I couldn't believe as I nuzzled my head into his chest. I looked up. There he was, my hyungwon.

"I'm so happy I still ed where you work and which bus stop you go to. Forgive me, I didn't want to tell you because I didn't want to ruin the surprise. Everything is still the same, the streets and your scent too, it smells like flowers. You don't know how many people have stopped to ask for my number today but I told them I was taken! I managed to get you your favourite strawberry mochi to make up for not telling you earlier and as I--" he rambled on and on and on as I giggled.

We stood there on the pavement, I wasn't saying anything, I was at a loss of words. It finally hit me, my boyfriend was here, in seoul, right in front of me. That moment felt just right, like time stopped for us.

Only he could make me smile the brightest on the darkest nights･ﾟ✧
