♟ CHECKMATE album rating ♟

hi midzys! as you all know, itzy's  

new album 'checkmate' has been

released a few days ago, and    

after listening to all of the new   

songs a few times I decided to   

rate each song here! please       

keep in mind that this is just my

opinion! let me know how you

would rate the songs in the

comments! ok let's start!   

♟[𝚂𝙽𝙴𝙰𝙺𝙴𝚁𝚂 | 6.5/10]♟

when I first heard the teaser for

'sneakers' I didn't like it at all.

I thought it's too childish and

upbeat and I'm also not a huge

fan of summer concepts (like 'pop'

by nayeon or 'up' by kep1er)

so I felt disappointed. but now that

the whole songs is released it's

slowly growing on me. I still can't

really bring myself to like the chorus

but the rest of the song is very good,

especially the pre-chorus! but it's

definitely the worst itzy title track imo

♟[𝚁𝙰𝙲3𝚁 | 6/10]♟

a decent b-side, not that special

but also not bad. again I like the

pre-chorus here more than the

chorus but it's a good song overall.

however I already started getting

tired of it after only a few listens.

♟[𝚆𝙷𝙰𝚃 𝙸 𝚆𝙰𝙽𝚃 | 9.5/10]♟

when I heard the snippet of this song

on the album spoiler I was so excited!

and itzy didn't disappoint! the chorus

is so addicting! the only reason that it's

not 10/10 is that the verses are slightly

boring/ unspectacular compared to

the rest of the song. this song is definitely

in my top 10 itzy b-sides, maybe even top 5!

♟[𝙵𝚁𝙴𝙴 𝙵𝙰𝙻𝙻 | 9/10]♟

this song is so much fun to listen to!

I love the way this song combines

rap and vocal parts, and I love the

'weeee' in the chorus, it's so cute!

I can't stop listening to it! I just wish

this song was longer ;-;

♟[365 | 5/10]♟

I'm not really a fan of rap-heavy songs,

the only rap b-side of itzy that I like

is #twenty. 365 is not very interesting or

pleasing to listen to imo. nothing

happens during the song and it just

sounds the same all the time. the only

part I like is the bridge.

♟[𝙳𝙾𝙼𝙸𝙽𝙾 | 10/10]♟

one of itzy's best ballads, if not

THE best one! this song is so soft and

beautiful and sounds so different

compared to the other b-sides.

I love itzy's fun and quirky side, but

this song shows that they can also

be soft and elegant. I hope this song

will get a special clip or some type of

music video. Listening to this song

makes me feel so nostalgic.
