Question: It was said that Kōtatsu was using a jewel shard to make his art of demons come alive from his scrolls, how do you think this process works?
The jewel shards contain the magic and power of the Shikon jewel, and we've seen how it affects people and creatures seeking for power. I believe that Kōtatsu used the power of the jewel shard not on the art directly (the scroll paper or finished picture), but the ink. Even though the power did not affect the ink physically or on the way it looks, it affected it purpose-wise (is that even a word- you get what I'm saying lol).
The ordinary purpose of ink is to stick to the surface it touches and dry up, to finally reveal a written message or drawn figures done by the artist. But the ink, instead of drying up and staying on the scroll paper, it used the power of the jewel shard to turn what was drawn onto the paper to become not just real, but powerful.
