Personal Opinion and viewing standpoint for a Light Novel Reader. Season 4. We got the art style change which is more similar to the LN art style. We got the Cao Cao Arc finally with the addition of CQP Ise as well as it was the first season to go by the Light Novel completely.
And for knowledge, the last eight episodes of Season 3 are not canon, they were not made from the LN which is why ione now does the artstyle. Of course I actually prefer ione as they have a very beautiful art style. For context, ione also does the art of the Date a Live anime series, which once again reflects from the LN of DAL.

But you have to understand not everyone will be reading the light novel
Some people are anime only and anime and manga consumers so they wont be aware of this
