Professor Prongs gave us the task to write about human- transfiguration, animagi, werewolves and metamorphmagi in our homework so here I am, presenting you a little essay about them.

Human-transfiguration is, as the name says, the transfiguration of a human. It can change the look of body parts - such as hair colour and style - and even entire bodys. When transforming a human as a whole, it takes the form of an animal (Cross-species transfiguration) most of the time but one can transform themself or someone else in basically everything they want if they have enough talent and power to do so.

However, when a witch or wizard gets transformed into something else than a human, they may need someone else to turn them back since it's not possible for a creature or inanimated object to cast a spell or even hold a wand. This problem doesn't exist for animagi and metamorphagi, who can transform without a spell or wand. This may be a reason why human transformation is teached at Hogwarts, although only very skilled witches and wizards will be able to master this branch of transfiguration, and don't require a registration at the Ministry of Magic.

An Animagus is a witch or wizard who can turn into an animal at will. This animal can not be selected by the human and can not change or be changed. The form the animagus takes is a representation of one's personality.

After becoming an animagus (how this ability can be reaches will be explained later in this blog) one does not need a wand or spell to transform into their animal which would be required for human transfiguration. Unlike werewolves, the wizard or witch keeps their human mind and can control their behavior even in their animagus form. However, they can communicate with other animals at least on a rudimentary level.

The Animagus reversal spell is able to force one to transform back into a human from their animal form. This may be useful to find uned animagi or tell the difference between an animagi and an actual animal.

A difference between animagi and metamorphagi is that being an animagus can be learned but can only change into one animal while metamorphagi are born with their ability and can take any form they want.

A werewolf does, unlike an animagus, transform against their will. One can become a werewolf by being bitten by another werewolf during full moon and getting infected with lycanthropy. (also known as werewolfry) The application of a mixture of powdered silver and dittany on the bite will allow the victim to survive but they'll have to live as a werewolf.

This means they can live a normal life but have to go through a painful transformation into a extremly dangerous and wild near-wolf against their will every full moon. In this night, they can't think with their human mind anymore and will behave like a wild wolf. They won't recognise friends or family and will hunt and attack them because that's what their wolf instinct tells them to do. The scars of a werewolf attack will never fade and even if one gets bitten by a werewolf in another night than full moon, the scar of the bite will stay forever.

A metamorphagus is a witch or wizard who is born with the ability to change their appearance. This skills can, unlike being an animagus, not be learned. However, a similarity to two form of tranfigurations share is that they don't require a wand and have to be ed by the Ministry of Magic. Metamorphmagi can transform their body parts to look like features of animals (e.g. pig nose), change their voice and even take the form of another human. Their abilities may also be influenced by their emotion since the change of their appearance requires energy and one may not be able to keep the transformation up when they are sad or tired due to the lack of energy. However, this is not proven.

Let's move on to the secound part of the homework now:

Struggles of Werewolves

Werewolves have to go through a long list of struggles. Not only do they have to feel the immense pain of transforming, the fear of hurting their loved ones or themselves every full moon, they only have a lot to deal with on every other day of their life.

Many people consider werewolves to be highly dangerous and do not want to risk of having them as an employee. Parents won't want a werewolf to teach their children, the Minister of magic won't like an assistant who turns into a wolf and potentially kills people. All of this can be summed up to one reason for the discrimination against werewolves: fear.

We fear what we don't know, which is how werewolves are in their human form, and we fear all we know about them in their wolf form. The Ministry of Magic has classified them as XXXXX creatures which basically means that they are extremely dangerous and won't hesitate to kill anyone. In my opinion, this fact does increase the fear, especially because most people tend to think that they are dangerous in their human form as well or they simply ignore the fact that they are still human.

How to solve those problems

I think the most effective way to do something against discrimination is to teach the truth and destroy myths. The Ministry of Magic should tell the people not only about the dangerous side of werewolves but also about how caring, loving and good they can be in their human form. Information prefents false judgment. If people don't believe that werewolves are evil and all bad, they won't treat them like they are.

Another thing I'd suggest to change in order to help werewolves and stop the discrimination against them as well as minimise the danger coming from them: make the brewing of wolfsbane potion into an offical job at the Ministry of Magic and give the potion to all werewolves. It's not easy to brew wolfsbane potion but I am sure it'd be possible to teach more people how to do it and it could really help the werewolves because they'd be able to keep their own mind during full moon.

Now, on to the last part...

How to become an Animagus

Becoming an Animagus isn't an easy process and takes a lot of time, effort and skill.

The first step is to hold the leaf of a mandrake in your mouth for an entire month. This includes sleeping and eating to in case the leaf leaves your mouth, even if it's just for a minute, you'll have to start again.

After this month, you'll have take the leaf out of your mouth and put it in a vial at full moon. Don't be excited, this step includes a problem as well: the moon has to be visible. In case it's hidden behind clouds, you'll have to do the whole process again.

If you managed to complete the secound step, you'll have to brew a potion with the madrake leaf, dew (which must not have been exposed to sunlight or human feet for a full seven days) and some other unknown ingredients. The potion has to be brewed during full moon as well. Like for all the other steps, you'll have to start all over again if you fail do this task.

When you finally have the potion brewed, you are still not finished, I am sorry. You'll have to wait for a electrical storm before you can finally take the potion and you'll have to repeat the inconation "Amato Animo Animato Animagus“ every day at sunrise and sunset until this moment.

After completing all those tasks and drinking the potion, you'll be an animagus.

...wait! Did you think that was all? No, there is one more step you'll have to do unless you want to get intro trouble with the Ministry of Magic: you have to . The law says that every animgus has to be offically registred so the Ministry of Magic can keep track of them and use this information to find them in case they e.g. commited a crime and may try to hide in their animagus form.

If you managed to complete all the tasks and become an animagus, have fun with your new ability! Congratulations, you can now turn into an animal whenever you like.
