One of the students at Hogwarts made invites for a common room party, and were hung up basically everywhere. They were hung up on doors of all four houses, some laying around on the cold stone ground and even hung up on pillars outside in the courtyard.
Whomever made them was really trying to get the word all around, apparently having a party in a common room was important.
It was the weekend, meaning the Professor’s would be away and they must’ve figured that this weekend would’ve been the perfect time.
On the way out of Hermione’s last class of the day
on a Friday, she decided that she’d snatch up one of the paper invites that were laying around on the ground to see which house was throwing the party.
It surely wasn’t Gryffindor, she’d known that as a fact because if there was, someone she knew would’ve been gossiping about it in the common room, or she would’ve heard something from one of the girls she shared a dorm with.
“Bloody hell, those things are all over the school.” Ron’s voice came from behind her while she was picking up one of the papers to look over, she glanced over his shoulder in his direction.
“It’s barbaric, if you ask me.” She bit out, clearly annoyed that students would rather party on the weekends instead of working on their studies.
She could name off a few people who’re behind, and should really be working on those things if they want good marks, but... it wasn’t her life to worry about.
Hermione flipped the paper over in her hands. Glaring at the piece of parchment, and if it were possible there’d be a hole being burned right through it.
Slytherin Common Room Party.
If you’re a Gryffindor, don’t bother.
“You’d think that whoever made these and made sure that everyone saw them, that anyone would be allowed.” Ron stated, taking the piece of parchment from her hands to look it over.
Harry finally caught up to them, coming around to Hermione’s other side. He peaked around her, and towards Ron to see what he was holding.
“Is it those invites that I see laying around?”
“Yes, Harry, they are.” Hermione answered. “It’s a Slytherin party, and they made sure to add on there that Gryffindor’s weren’t to come.” She explained, rolling her eyes as the hand on the strap of her bag gripped tighter. Knuckles going white. “It’s not like we’d want to go to some silly Slytherin party anyways.”
Ron nodded, crumpling up the piece of paper and tossing it over his shoulders.
“I think we should go.”
Both Hermione and Ron snapped their heads up in Harry’s direction with an incredulous look.
“Have you gone bloody mad, Harry?”
“You of all people?” Hermione chimed in alongside Ron.
Harry started walking down the corridors with Hermione and Ron at his side, waiting for some sort of response while they made their way through the corridors to their common room.
“I think it could be fun... once we’ve had a couple of drinks in our system ‘course.”
“You guys can go, if that’s what your boys plan is then so be it. I’ll be in my room, working on my homework, like everyone else should be.” Hermione sniffed, and marched ahead of them.
“Mione, wait!” Ron called out, sharing an apologetic look to Harry before catching up with her.
Harry shook his head and just followed along a couple of paces behind them until they came to the fat lady portrait, giving the and walking in together.
Hermione tossed her bags on the loveseat in front of the fireplace.
“I think this could be good for you, specifically, Hermione. You need to let lose a bit, you’ve already got good marks, how much better could they get?”
Ron sighed, taking a seat on the loveseat on the opposite end of where Hermione’s bags was sat. A look of disgust. “But it’s Slytherin.”
Hermione raised her hand as if to gesture to Ron, mainly to what he said. Sometimes, he wasn’t the brightest, but he had his moments.
“That’s exactly why I think we should go. They stated on that invite that no Gryffindor’s were allow to come, right? Well, if a few of us just showed up, and not just us three... they wouldn’t be able to kick us out,” He shrugged, “They’d have to accept it.”
Ron and Hermione shared glances with one another.
“Fine. Whatever.” Hermione huffed, spun around and marched her way upstairs to her dorm.
Harry blinked his eyes, pushed his spectacles back and raised a brow in Ron’s direction. “We should, uh, go get ready.”
An hour or so ed by rather fast. Everyone was ready for the party, and waiting in the common room for Hermione to come down, if she was to even go with that is.
Harry had managed to talk a few people into going with them, Fred and George were down, and had already planned on going to either play pranks on the Slytherin’s or, well, crash the party.
Neville Longbottom was asked to them, but he wasn’t too fond with a few of the Slytherin’s so he had declined and instead, went to bed early.
Ron was ready, sat in a chair within the corner of the room. He was tapping his fingers on the armrest.
There were footsteps heard coming down the stairs, and all four heads turned in the direction to see who it was that was coming down. Maybe Neville changed his mind?
Instead; it was the Brightest-Witch-of-Their-Age, confidently making her way down the stairs. She wasn’t in her robes, or school uniform. Who in the bloody hell would wear their school uniforms to a house party anyways?
She was wearing dark blue jeans, a black thin strapped tank top with little pink flowers imbedded into the thin fabric of the shirt, with a white dress shirt that looked as if it were transfigured into something smaller and was tied in a knot in the front. Even her hair seemed to look more... well, less bushy-haired and frizzy if we’re honest here. Her curls weaved down her back, and bounced when she walked.
Ron’s mouth parted while his eyes wandered over her body at the choice of outfit. He may have been drooling, or maybe it was just something he was thinking since she looked so beautiful. Harry on the other hand, had fogged up his glasses much like the time he’d seen her at the Yule Ball in her frilly periwinkle dress.
“Look at you, Hermione.” George came to her side.
“You dress up mighty fine.” Fred ed at her other side
A faint pink brushed up along her cheek bones, despite their compliments she now felt a little self-conscious with all their eyes on her. “Can we go now?”
They set out of Gryffindor common room, sneaking their way through the corridor, rounding around corners and hiding in alcoves just to make sure that there were no Professor’s out and about, or so they wouldn’t run into Filch and Mrs. Norris.
As soon as they made it down into the dungeons (Harry obviously knew the from when Ron and him had taken Poly-juice and acted like Crabbe and Goyle).
There was music, how they managed to find a way to play music was something that neither of them in the moment were curious about, but surely Hermione would think about it later on.
The music could be felt through the stone-cold cement floors, it felt as if the whole dungeon was vibrating on different frequencies.
Thankfully, they didn’t have anyone guarding the entry way from going into the common room, in fact it was open wide for anyone who’d seen the slips to .
They walked in, and were met with a green tint of the room, there were people dancing either alone or together. From the way they were dancing, it certainly wasn’t something appropriate in Hermione’s eyes anyways.
Fred and George had wide grins displayed over their lips, ones that met their eyes and stretched from ear-to-ear; they shoved their way into the dancing crowd and ed them.
Now; it was just Hermione, Ron, and Harry all standing there awkwardly. Hermione crossed her arms over her chest and glanced over at the two of them.
“Go on, then. You're the ones who wanted to come.” She chopped her hand through the air, gesturing for them to go and dance. Clearly annoyed.
There were people from all different houses. Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, was that another Gryffindor? Merlin’s beard, there were more Gryffindor’s there then what she had thought. At first, she thought it would’ve been just George, Fred, Ron, Harry, and her... but no.
Cormac McLaggen was off dancing with some Ravenclaw brunette, who she couldn’t quite pinpoint a name to the face.
Lavender Brown seemed to of been intoxicated or something because when she noticed Ron, she swayed her way toward him, pulling on his hand to her and then automatically started dancing on him.
Hermione blanched.
She let her eyes wander the room some more, to see if she had noticed anyone else from their house.
There was Seamus Finnigan chatting with Parvati Patil and her sister Pa.
Oh. What a nightmare this was. She was actually at a Slytherin party.
She righted herself, lifted her chin in the air and tried to get a little more confident in her body before marching her way over towards the drink table, to her surprise she knocked back at least two drinks, and Merlin, did it burn the back of her throat. Grimacing.
Was Harry dancing with Pansy? Hermione squinted her eyes, as if that was going to help her see a little better from the distance between them.
She honestly couldn’t believe her eyes, was the drinks already hitting her?
Hermione shook her head, worrying her lip while looking around the dancing bodies some more.
Ginny was here? How come she wasn’t dancing with Harry, instead; she’s dancing with... Luna.
She paled, letting her hands fall to the drink table to catch her breath. What the hell was happening right now?
“Granger.” The voice drawled out.
Hermione lifted her head quickly, and spun around to see who was speaking to her.
Draco bloody Malfoy.
“Malfoy.”
She let her eyes fall over his physique for a moment, she’d never noticed before but his shoulders were broader and his arms seemed to have more muscle to them. Perhaps it was the drinks. He wasn’t wearing a tie, and two buttons to his dress shirt were undone.
“Enjoying what you see?”
“Enjoying what I see?” She repeated, dumbstruck. Hermione shook her head. “Er...no.”
Draco’s eyebrows slowly raised, noticing the hesitation in her response. “I specifically said no Gryffindor’s. Yet...” He looked around the common room and back at her. “Everyone must have thought that it was an invitation. Even though it was clear, that it wasn’t.” He bit out; jaw tight.
She glared up at him, her brows knitting tightly together before she crossed her arms over her chest. “Yeah - well...” Merlin, why couldn’t she even respond correctly. She shook her head, again. “When we’ve had parties in our common room, you’ve managed to slither your way in. So, I guess it’s only payback.”
It was true, even though Gryffindor’s and Slytherin’s were always at a rivalry together, they had always come to each-others common room parties and had a good time, whether it was something they had wanted to it too or not.
Draco’s lips shrugged with a quick tilt of his head before it straightened.
“Think you can handle a Slytherin party?”
Hermione scoffed, looking away from him and picking up a bottle before taking a couple of chugs from it. “Think I, Hermione Granger, can’t handle a party like this? I’ll show you.”
Another hour ed by, and Hermione not only had downed two drinks when she first arrived here, but two bottles of some kind of drink, a shot of Goblin whiskey (how they got it in the school, she didn’t know, no matter, she didn’t even care). She was ed the tipsy stage, and it was an entirely new Hermione on the surface when she was intoxicated.
Hermione found herself dancing with Luna and Ginny, they were sandwiched together, dancing on each-other in a totally not appropriate way.
Yes, Harry was dancing with Pansy, no, she was grinding her arse against him, and oh... Merlin if Hermione was sober, she’d probably be beyond grossed out at the sight.
Though in the moment; it looked as if the two houses that had always had their rivalries had been getting along in their drunken states, it was devastatingly beautiful. A little strange, and awkward bit different.
Draco had left her alone after their encounter, well, that was until now, of course.
“Granger.”
She looked up and when his face came into view, the faint green light illuminating a glow along his platinum blonde hair, and sharp features of his face.
“Hmm?” She hummed, though it was a slurred hum at that.
He lifted a bottle to take a couple of sips from whatever he was drinking, which she soon snatched out of his hand and took a couple sips of her own.
Fire Whiskey.
“Uh.”
Was all that he had managed to get out before Hermione’s hand gripped into the fabric of his shirt and smashed her lips into his, a firm grip on the bottle that she had taken from him. Her kiss was sloppy, and in the moment, she didn’t even know what she was doing, or care that she was kissing Draco sodding Malfoy.
The biggest prat of Hogwarts.
To her surprise, Draco kissed back, accept he was more violent and less sloppy than her, and with more meaning. His tongue slipped out, and demanded entrance which she obliged. It was so good, to feel the way his tongue slithered in and danced around with hers as if he was trying to duel her without their wands.
Hermione had a feeling that when she woke up in the morning, she wouldn’t anything from tonight, and since she was kissing Draco, she sure hoped that she wouldn’t. Not only that but she also prays that Draco wouldn’t a thing as well. Because this wasn’t something that she didn’t want to continue outside of their common room.
Oh. Merlin’s beard.
To stop this from going any further, she lifted the bottle and poured it all over the both of them. Drenching them completely, the liquid seeped through their clothing. His arms wrapped around her in an almost possessive way, and pulled his lips from hers and licked her chin where the liquid beverage was dripping down her cheek. Hermione tossed her head back and laughed.
“You’ll pay for that, Granger.” He growled against her neck.
“Mm. I’m sure I will.” She slurred.
