Tom Marvolo Riddle

Were they justified because of his past? Or weren't they?

He was born on the 31 December 1926 in Wool's orphanage, in London. His mother was Merope Riddle, daughter of Marvolo Gaunt and a direct descendant of Salazar Slytherin. His father was a Muggle and his name was Tom Riddle. His mother named him before she died after her husband and her father.

His hatred for his father made him change his name to Lord Voldemort.

He grew alone in an orphanage until Dumbledore took him to Hogwarts. As a student, he was very smart, top of his classes. He also was the professors' favourite because of his smartness and ambition ( except from Dumbledore). He was cunning, sly and manipulative. Those traits could be used in better ways than he did but he was always attracted by the dark side. I think that he thought that that's how he could achieve his ends.

  I don't think that his past justifies the things he did because Harry Potter had a similar past and chose the good side.
