I’m Kenzie and welcome to my

1. Tell us a little about yourself! (Where you’re from, hobbies, house, patronus etc)

hello there! my name is kenzie. i’m a teenage muggleborn from the USA. just some arbitrary facts about me; 1. my birthday is March 31st which makes me an Aries (or a Pisces depending on if you count Ophiuchus as a sign). 2: I don’t have a favorite color, mainly because all of the colors are really cool in their own way and I can’t decide, and 3; I have 2 dogs + 2 cats!

I’ve been on this community off-and-on for the last 3 years, but this is probably the longest I’ve been on here consecutively. You might know me from a few other communities, but I switch them up constantly so I might have already left. As I’m writing this I realize I sound like I have no attention span lol.

I mostly just stalk this community (which you probably gathered from my lack of posts in 3 years lol), but I also spend a lot of my time editing and reading. I’m a big bookworm and so if you guys have any book recommendations let me know!

2. How did you discover Harry Potter?

I grew up in a family that immensely enjoyed Harry Potter, especially my mother. When I was younger my parents had debates about whether the material was appropriate enough for me (especially the later ones because death behold them lol). Honestly, I hadn’t really cared much about it before I read it. I was just like “whatever, I’ll do what my 6 yo self wants.” By the time I was in second grade, though, I wanted to find something to read while we were camping. My parents thought it would be a good time for me to at least try the books out. I was (and still am) a big reader and became obsessed with the series. Of course, since I read the first one and enjoyed it, I decided to read the next one, and the one after that... you all probably know the story, since there’s a good chance you lived it too.

3. What’s your favourite book and/or movie?

honestly, this is a really hard question! growing up my favorite book AND movie was the Goblet of Fire, mostly just because of the triwizard events, but now that I’m older my tastes have changed. My favorite book is the Deathly Hallows and the Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite movie. There’s just something about both of them that stand out to me.

4. Who’s your most and least favourite character?

I don’t really have any intense favorites like most people, but Remus Lupin was always a top contender in my mind. for least favorite I’ll have to say Peter Pettigrew. that little rat was a backstabber and a menace. These two marauders are at very different ends of the spectrum.

5. What’s your favourite class?

I have two different answers to that question. Just by reading the books, the obvious answer to me is Defense Against the Dark Arts, especially if Lupin is teaching. However, if I were a Hogwarts student, I think Care of Magical Creatures would have been my favorite class.

6. What can we expect to see you doing on 9 ¾ Amino? (theories, roleplaying, quizzes)

I mostly just read posts, but I also participate in a lot of polls and (some) quizzes. Occasionally I might make a post or even show an edit, but those will likely be rare occurrences. If I REALLY feel wild I might do a short story.

7. What do you love about 9 ¾ Amino?

while being here I’ve picked up on so many things, but my absolute favorite is how collaborative and ive everyone is.

there’s so many amazing posts and debates on here! you guys are all wonderful content creators and the amount of participation in debates and challenges is crazy to me. You guys are so ive and kind to each other, even if they don’t agree with their opinion on a subject. You all seem to have some great friendships and now that I re-ed I hope I can make some too!

8. What does being a Potterhead mean to you?

the Harry Potter series has always been a pretty big part of my life. It’s helped me though times where I felt like my life was at it’s hardest, and I don’t think I’d be the same person without it.

For a long time I used the books to help me escape from stress, hurt and/or any negative feelings I had in my life. It was the place where I could just turn to when I felt like I was trapped or that I had too much weighing on my shoulders. It helped me get over my mental obstacles, but I now realize it also taught me a lot of necessary life lessons. It showed me the importance of friendship (a thing I’d been neglecting), how to deal with loss, that’s it’s okay to be different, and to resist any evil that may enter my path. I’m lucky to have basically grown up with a place that truly made me feel safe and happy. Even though I’m now much older and a bit of the magic has faded, I know it won’t truly ever go away.
