Ok so the shelter made us aware that Farkus’s teeth were SLIGHTLY overgrown, but I think they look a bit more than slightly. What do you guys think? (I have a vet appointment for tomorrow for anyone concerned!)

“Slightly”… No, your hamster’s teeth is without a doubt, overgrown. In the future, I suggest providing them with more things to chew on. You can offer apple sticks or occasionally feed them corn cobs and whimzees, to encourage them to chew! :)
Whimzee Chews
They’re meant for dogs, but are hamster safe and should only be given to them once a month

Corn cob
These are inexpensive and natural, with no artificial flavors! It should also be given on occasion. So, every 2-3 weeks

His teeth were trimmed down at the vet recently! He has to go back to the vet since we had a mite infestation which sucks because he was just doing so so well after gaining some weight back. We provide him with a bunch of chews everywhere, but he never had them with his old owner(for almost 2 years) and idk why but he just refuses to chew on anything. I always check for bite marks, but still, nothing. I do try to provide him with muzuri rat blocks to help his teeth since they’re a thicker than just a seed they can crack open. I also give him whimzees! I feel like those would help his teeth a lot, but I know ur not supposed to give it to them too-too often
I’m hoping we can get the mites taken care of sooner than Thursday (the only time a vet is available this week) because I’m really worried about his health overall with the mites added onto it. After all of this stuff done at the vet I’ll try to see if I can get him to chew some more (I’m so sorry this is so much I didn’t even realize :sob: )

I’m so happy to hear that! And I’m sorry to hear about the mite infestation. I can’t imagine. I hope you get through it. :sob:
And hmmm, because your hamster seems disinterested in the items that you’re providing them with- maybe look into the Corn Cob. And have you thought of DIY boredom breakers? You can paint apple sticks or toilet paper rolls with mixed water and flour, then stick their food to it! It may help~

Tysm! I’ll definitely try those!
That looks super overgrown :( poor baby. Gald he's going to the vet
I thought so. I found him choking a couple days ago and immediately booked him a visit to the vet :sob: :sob: he’s been eating “mush” food for the past 2 days so he doesn’t have to chew. He’s an old man (2) so I was worried about having to put him under for a bit, but he’s pretty calm so I don’t think they will have to do too much :sob: :sob:
