Hi! If you don’t know me my name is Rob (not actually but that’s what I go by on here), I am looking to start a wheel making business! I may be getting chinchillas on Saturday and they sadly don’t have an adequate wheel so I was looking into making wheels for them and I realized how easy and cheap it is! If I were to make wheels I would price every wheel I make under $30 (depends on the size)! So far I have found the stuff to make 16in wheels but I’m slowly finding ways to make other sizes! This poll is me asking who would buy from me if I made wheels? For example of prices I would price them $5-$10 over what it costs to make them. I would never sell anything that I wouldn’t personally use or couldn’t guarantee would work! There will be shipping costs but I can’t fully tell you how much it would cost at this point in time.

Haha I especially would if you could figure out a more “aEsTheTiC” than the regular pvc bases in bucket wheels

PVC is usually very smooth, the paint may not adhere on it, you may have to sand the surface first (may not work alone) and then prep the surface before painting with non toxic paint (usually acrylics) and since you intend to sell, maybe protect the paint job with some non toxic varnish so the paint doesn't get scratched in a couple days of use.
I feel like you'd have to test the sturdiness of both the wheel (make sure it doesn't start to be noisy less than a month after buying for exemple) and the paint job (make sure it doesn't scratch off easily) before you can sell, otherwise your shop will probably get a bad rep quickly.
But I thought that any kind of plastic could be deadly to chinchillas, isn't also the case for PVC?

Thank you for commenting! I know many people who have pvc stand wheels for chinchillas, so I’m going to assume it isn’t toxic?

I will make sure to do more research though to see if it is!
I picked it depends because for me I would want a silent wheel.
Although if its $30, 16 inches and not super loud heck yeah ! I just spent almost $70 on a silent 16" wheel and I didn't want to but I had to haha. My ratties need a wheel.

I feel like as long as it's not too heavy and they can get it moving then why not. It would give then extra space for their tails to extend when running :)

Ok! Right now my plan would be to start with 5-10ish of each wheel and see which does best. I currently have 6-7 sizes I want to do. Thank you for being a person!
