forever

             how long is forever?

              a question i often wonder.

              i thought it was until eternity,

              but it's only until 1854.

              you, and margarita both left me

              far too early

              i, elizabeth schyuler am alone

               once more.

               i laid flowers at your grave today,

              tulips, dahlias and daisies.

              in shades of pink and white

              your favorites. the clouds blocked

              all the light, as i stared at all the graves.

              the grisly dark sky fit the

              atmosphere. i miss you. so much.

              they all left me, everyone i loved.

              philip. alexander. margarita, now you.

              the children i birth who died in the room

              i now have no one

              but my children who's grown and moved

              married and soon

              all my children will grow

              and I'll be all alone.
