From what I understand, with the rise in popularity of the surname Griffin in the... I want to say17th century, the spelling gryphon became popularized to denote the more beastial nature of the animal versus the name for a person. The idea being that the "yph" in a name was less civil than the "Iff." To keep that trend going, I prefer the gryphon spelling. But all the same, I by no means refuse to acknowledge other spellings. I just like the etymology of the spellings is all.
These are all different ways to spell it, but their meaning is the same. Any spelling is okay with me as well, "Griffin" is what comes up if you ask for the definition. That's how I came up with the Amino name, so really it's just however you want to spell it ^^
This is gonna split the amino into thirds XD
