Jimmy Garoppolo out for season with broken left foot

49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will miss the remainder of the season as he suffered a broken left foot in the team's 33-17 win over the visiting Miami Dolphins. With 11:22 in the first quarter, he was sacked by both Dolphins end Jaelen Phillips and linebacker Jerome Baker and his foot was caught up under Phillips as he went down. He hobbled to the sidelines and went into the blue medical tent before a cart was brought out and he was taken back to the locker room for further evaluation, and he was officially ruled out of the game with 8:39 left in the second quarter. Coach Kyle Shanahan said that Garoppolo will undergo season-ending surgery making him the second 49ers QB to go down with injury as rookie QB Trey Lance went down in the team's second game of the season with a broken leg. QB Brock Purdy will now start as the team's QB as he came into this game and finished 25-of-37 for 210 yards, a touchdown, and a pick. Wishing Jimmy G a speedy recovery.
