In 2010, Michael Vick was the backup to Kevin Kolb. Following an injury to Kolb in week 1 of the season, Michael Vick came in and lead the Eagles as the starting quarterback for most of the year with him starting 11 games in 2010 and going 8-3 as the starter. This came while ing for career highs with over 3,000 yards, and 21 touchdowns to just 6 interceptions while also rushing on the ground for an additional 9 touchdowns and 676 yards. Vick would also lead the Eagles to the playoffs with a 10-6 record and despite a quick exit in the wildcard things had been looking up for the team. The Eagles rewarded Vick by paying him a 6 year deal worth 100 million dollars and 40 million guaranteed.

For the rest of his career, Vick would fall off a cliff. In 2011, Vick would start just 13 games and would throw for over 3,300 yards and just 18 touchdowns to 14 interceptions while rushing for an additional 1 touchdown and 579 yards. The Eagles would finish 8-8 that year creating the infamous dream team label due to the fact that the team flopped badly. Following the season in 2011, Vick would play sparingly in 2012 and 13 with a 5-11 record combined before finding himself cut following the 2013 season. Following 2013, Vick would the Jets in 2014 and would go 1-2 as the starter as he watched the Jets finish the year 4-12. The following year after that one, Vick ed the Steelers and went 2-1 as a starter in 2015 during his final year while Ben Roethlisberger was injuried. Despite still having something left in the tank following the 2015 season, Vick wouldn’t get signed in 2016 and would retire in 2017.

In 2011, Packers 7th round pick Matt Flynn got the chance of his life during a week 17 meaningless game against the Lions. Flynn against the Lions had an amazing game with him ing for over 480 yards and 6 touchdowns while leading a game winning drive. Flynn this season had also finished the year ing for over 518 yards and 6 touchdowns to just 2 interceptions while rushing for 1 touchdown in 5 games. Following this offseason, Flynn would go into free agency and the Seahawks would reward Flynn with a 3 year contract worth 19 million dollars and 10 million guaranteed.

Flynn, when he arrived in Seattle competed with Russell Wilson and Tavaris Jackson for the starting roster spot. Due to the fact that Russell Wilson had a better pre season, Flynn would lose the job to Wilson which put Flynn as the backup in 2012. During the season, Flynn would appear in 2 games and would only throw 9 es in those two games with Flynn completing 5 es on 9 attempts for 68 yards. Following 2012, Flynn would be traded by the Seahawks to the Raiders for a 2014 5th round pick and 2015 draft picks and then would get released and the Bills. Following a small stint in Buffalo, Flynn would be cut and would back with the Packers. Flynn started 4 games going 2-2 before being demoted to the backup as Aaron Rodgers came back and got to the playoffs. Following 2013, Flynn would sign a 1 year deal with the Packers before being cut in 2015. Flynn would also make quick stints with the Saints, Jets, and Patriots before retiring in 2016.

In 2002, Maddox was signed by the Steelers to be the backup to pro bowl quarterback Kordell Stewart. Maddox would be thrust into action following an injury to Stewart which kept him out for multiple games. Maddox, in 2002 ed for over 2,800 yards and 20 touchdowns to 16 interceptions while going 7-3-1 as the starter and getting the Steelers to the playoffs. In the playoffs Maddox also lead a 24-7 comeback in the wildcard against the Browns resulting in a 36-33 victory before losing in the divisional round to the Titans 34-31 in overtime. Following that season, Maddox would take home NFL Comeback Player of the year. The Steelers would also reward Maddox by making him the permanent starter going into 2003.

Maddox, the following season would regress and would miss the playoffs while throwing for over 3400 yards and 18 touchdowns to 17 interceptions while going 6-10 as the starter. Despite missing the playoffs, Maddox received a fresh contract with a reworked deal over 5 years with him expected to mentor 1st round pick Ben Roethlisberger. But, an elbow sprain changed everything with Maddox going 2-1 as the starter before the injury made him lose the starting job. After this season in 2005, Maddox would watch as the Steelers made the Super Bowl and beat the Seahawks 24-10 resulting in Maddox earning a ring while going 0-1 as the starter. Maddox would be cut following the 2005 season as a way to save some cap space due to Roethlisberger being the franchise starter of the future. Following the 2005 season, Maddox would try out in the CFL with the Philadelphia Soul but failed to make the roster and would retire in 2007.

In 2015, Osweiler would start out as the backup behind Peyton Manning. Midway through the season, Osweiler would come in for an injured Peyton Manning and would play well. Osweiler would throw for over 1,960 yards and 10 touchdowns to just 6 interceptions while going 5-2 as a starter. He would lose the starting job in week 17 but would earn a Super Bowl ring behind Peyton Manning as a backup. Following the season, Osweiler would be rewarded with a massive contract from the Houston Texans consisting of a 4 year deal worth 84 million dollars with 39 million guaranteed.

Following the season, Osweiler would turn into a horrible free agent g after throwing for more interceptions than touchdowns. He somehow led the Texans to an 8-6 record with an amazing defense playing a large role. In the playoffs, Osweiler lead the Texans to a 27-14 victory over the Raiders who had 4th round rookie Connor Cook under center before losing to the Patriots the following week. Following 2016, Osweiler would be traded to the Browns to offload his contract before not even making a roster of a team that would ultimately would go 0-16 that season. Following that, Osweiler would sign with the Broncos again and would go 0-4 as the starter. He would leave again in free agency during the 2018 season to go to the Dolphins to backup Ryan Tannehill. In 2018, Osweiler would start 5 games to for the Dolphins before going 2-3 as the starter and not earning a second contract in 2019. After going unsigned for most of 2019, Osweiler would retire having made lots of money as a journeyman.

In 2011, Tebow started out as the backup behind Kyle Orton who was meant to mentor Tebow. After starting off 1-4, the Broncos switched over to Tebow. Tebow would throw for over 1720 yards and 12 touchdowns to just 6 interceptions while going 7-4 as a starter and making the playoffs for the Broncos as a division winner at 8-8. Tebow would also lead 5 game winning drives for the Broncos which got them into the playoffs in the first place. In the wildcard against the Steelers, Tebow would win in a 29-23 victory in overtime following a touchdown on the first play in overtime. Following the victory over the Steelers, Tebow and the Broncos would go to Gillette Stadium where the Broncos endured a 45-10 thumping at the hands of the Patriots.

Following the 2011 season, Tebow would be traded to the Jets in 2012 for a 4th and 6th round pick in the 2012 NFL draft. This would come after the Broncos drafted Brock Osweiler and signed Peyton Manning. Tebow in New York would be the backup to Mark Sanchez despite the cries of fans wanting the Jets to put Tebow in at quarterback due to Sanchez’s struggles. In New York, Tebow would also attempt just 8 es in which he completed 6 of the es for 38 yards. Those would be the final es in his career with him mainly being used as a wildcat quarterback on trick plays. Following 2012, Tebow would get cut by the Jets before having brief stints with the Patriots and Eagles in 2013 and 2015 before retiring to play baseball for the Mets.

In 2007, Anderson started out as the backup behind quarterback Charlie Frye who won the job in a coin toss. Following Frye’s struggles in Week 1, Anderson came in and played well enough to earn the starting job. Throughout the year, Anderson threw for over 3,700 yards and 29 touchdowns to just 19 interceptions while going 10-5 as the starter and missing the playoffs. Anderson would earn Pro Bowl honors for his amazing performance and would become the first and only Browns QB of the expansion franchise Browns to have a Pro Bowl. The Browns would also reward Anderson with a 3 year deal worth 24 million dollars and 13 million guaranteed.

Following his amazing 2007 season Anderson would fall off the map with him going 6-10 during his two remaining seasons as a starter in Cleveland before being cut following 2009. Anderson would then make a quick stint with the Cardinals in 2010 before findings his way to the Panthers. In Carolina Anderson would start just 4 games and would go 2-2 as a starter while backing up quarterback Cam Newton. Following 2017 Anderson would be a free agent before being thrust into action as a Buffalo Bill due to the Bills losing their entire quarterback roster to injuries.
