While I work on the next chapter of Run To You, there are a list of small details I feel would be prudent to share. Mostly because there are a few things I feel that I should elaborate on in the story, so you understand fully what's going on.
Another thing, I am intending to make all of these into a prequel fanfic after I finish Run To You, so there's way more to expect from me in the future!
Now, there are things you need to know about the Pines twins and their Gruncle Stan in this AU.
- When their parents died in a car accident, Dipper was actually in the vehicle with them at the time, whereas Mabel was at a friend's. She and Dipper were both 6 years old when it happened.
- Dipper and Mabel do not know this, but their parents' death wasn't an accident at all. It was intentional, caused on purpose when a sniper shot a semi truck driver traveling in an opposite direction to them, causing the fatal collision that resulted in their parents' deaths, and Dipper being temporarily hospitalized due to injuries he received in the crash. The reason for this horrible act? They wanted revenge after Stan killed their brother, who was known to be involved with the local mob. Of course, as soon as Stan realized what they did, he made sure they were promptly reunited with their brother in Hell.
- Dipper is highly disturbed by blood. Ever since the accident, the smell and sight of blood has been the cause of extreme lightheadedness or severe panic attacks for him, depending on the amount of blood he sees at any given time. He also finds loud noises and bright lights unpleasant, and generally avoids crowded places whenever possible.
- Gruncle Stan is a Beta werewolf who used to be in the military many years ago. After leaving it, he was an FBI agent for a few decades in the United States. Over the course of his lifetime he has met individuals from all walks of life, including some who are trained as ruthless assassins. While he does have enemies, few would dare to cross him after the example he made out of the two mob brothers I mentioned before. Throw in the fact that he's close friends with several of America's wealthiest and powerful families, - such as the Ciphers - and you have an individual who is absolutely terrifying to those who have made an enemy of him. He easily has the means and knowledge to make you disappear for good, and believe me, if you make him angry enough, he'll make sure your entry to Hell is just as painful and horrific as the place itself.
- As terrifying as he might be to his enemies, Gruncle Stan has an incredibly loving heart behind his ruthless exterior. When he lost his niece and nephew (Dipper and Mabel's parents) in the accident, he accepted the responsibility of becoming the new legal guardian of Dipper and Mabel the second he was ed, knowing that if he didn't, the twins would be separated and put into foster care. There was no way in Hell Stan was going to allow that, not after the two of them had already lost their parents because of him. In fact, when he saw Dipper and Mabel again, the first thing he did was hold them both in his arms and let them cry about their parents until they couldn't anymore. He even cried a little himself, to tell the truth. And when Dipper was deemed recovered enough to leave the hospital, Stan carried Dipper out of the building and took the twins out for ice cream. He also gave their parents a wonderful funeral service and had them buried in the Pines family plot in a cemetery located not far from the Gravity Falls National Park.
- Dipper and Mabel spent the next two years living with their Gruncle Stan in his luxury log cabin, which was located in an exclusive neighborhood near Gravity Falls, with a small town and elementary school just a few miles away. When I say exclusive, I mean the place they lived was one of a handful of such cabins, each with a few miles of forest separating them. The setting was quiet, picturesque, and extremely beautiful. It was a place of many fond memories for the Pines twins, particularly for Dipper, who had always been in love with the woods.
Now for some notes on Dipper's friendship with Billius and William Cipher.
- It was during the summer when Dipper turned 8 that he met Will and Bill on that group hike. It was also on that day, after Bill saved Dipper from the wolf, that Bill gave Dipper his nick name, "Pine Tree." Because, after Bill had scared the wolf away, Dipper was still shaken from the experience and barely able to mumble his name. In fact, the only word Bill was able to hear initially was Pine, and since Dipper was standing under one such tree, the name just stuck after that, even after Dipper told Bill his actual name. It's an inside joke of sorts between the three of them, as many people (even Mabel) were not present for the events that inspired it.
- It was a year later that Dipper and Mabel would unfortunately be relocated to another house owned by Stan a few states away. Again, they were blissfully unaware of this, but it was because some other enemies of Stan had found them. So he had to move them somewhere safe, while he took care of the problem. Sadly, it also meant that Dipper had to say goodbye to Will and Bill for the time being. He would not see either of them again until he was 17. And, as already shown in my previous posts, their reunion was was a joyful one.
- Will and Dipper were both some of the smartest kids in school. Both were straight A students, whereas Bill was into sports - although he was definitely no slouch either when it came to academics. After all, it was his ambition to be a lawyer later in his adult life. Aside from that, his other main interest was Dipper. Yes, he and Dipper were dating in high school. So you can rest assured, Killian was most certainly NOT the first person he was with. That privilege was Bill's. And you can bet it didn't take long for Will to realize it back then, either.
- I also establish in this fanfic that Pacifica was insanely jealous of Dipper from the moment she met him. There was the obvious reason, which was that Bill always looked at Dipper like the total eye candy he is. The second reason was because Dipper outscored her academically at every subject. There was also the fact he, Will and Bill were always making jokes and references about events that she and other people were not party to - only the three of them. She had no way of knowing of course, but it was deliberate on their part, as they found her frankly immature feelings of envy hilarious. They also saw it as a harmless way to get back as someone who they unanimously viewed as a spoiled rich girl.
Of all the different ways they did this, by far the one they got the biggest kick out of was when they would start to sing lines from songs back and forth to each other. There were quite a few they sang, but some were more fun than others, owing to the fact they always made Pacifica turn red as tomatoes - either because she was irritated, or because she understood that the Cipher twins and Dipper were deliberately hinting at the intimate moments he and Bill had shared alone together. These songs included: Walk This Way by Aerosmith - Super Psycho Love by Simon Curtis - Everybody by Backstreet Boys - Sounds Like A Melody by Alphaville - Hymn For The Weekend (Seeb Remix) by Coldplay - and the song I'll Be by Celine Dione.
- As often as they would have fun annoying Pacifica though, they NEVER crossed a line or made things personal. Ironically enough, this was because Dipper INSISTED on it. But being a spoiled rich girl with an envious and vindictive personality, Pacifica did not care to extend the same courtesy. On the night of the high school prom, she and some of the other terrible kids in the school played a "joke" on everyone - by dumping a pig's blood on everyone using the school indoor sprinkler system.
Well, as you can imagine, ABSOLUTELY NOBODY found it funny. Least of all Dipper, who suffered a complete meltdown. He started screaming and crying, and ended up crawling under one of the tables. He sat there for maybe ten minutes, just rocking back and forth hugging himself while Bill, Will and Mabel tried to calm him down. In the end, Bill took Dipper to the school locker rooms to wash them both off in the showers (for y'all with dirty minds, I'll have you know they kept their clothes on the whole time, thank you very much.) and after they were both clean, he dried Dipper's hair with one of the towels always kept there. Meanwhile, Mabel explained why Dipper had such an extreme reaction to Will, who was beyond horrified to hear it.
When it was revealed later that Pacifica was one of the people responsible, you can bet that the fall out that resulted from it was epic. Bill basically lost his mind at her the next day, asking her how she could be that selfish and did she have ANY IDEA what it did to Dipper that night. But what made it worse was when Pacifica said "At least it wasn't human blood, then." Which you can bet made Bill even angrier. He ended up punching Pacifica in the face - completely shattering her nose and chipping two of her teeth in the process. And then he told her through clenched teeth that she better thank God she wasn't a boy, because if she had been, he would have also fractured her ribcage and broken BOTH of her arms. In multiple places. With his bare hands.
Of course, such behavior on his part resulted in a week long suspension. But Bill didn't care, because he used the time off to see Dipper, who had been itted to the hospital to receive treatment for shock. When he went there, he ran into Dipper's Gruncle Stan. He ended up thanking Bill for his help calming Dipper down at the event, and even smiled when Bill said what he's done to Pacifica in retaliation. After that, he left Bill and Dipper alone for a little while. And you can bet Bill spent that time by holding Dipper in his arms and kissing his forehead to help him feel safe.
