Hi! 안녕!

Do I smell another challenge? Oh damn... Another one has appeared out of the blue! I gotta it I tell myself I'll do this challenge but I never make the post on time :sob:

Anyways I wanted to do this challenge since it helps me as a writer explore the other genres other than the ones I usually do :eyes: So I do hope you enjoy the content I have in stored for you!

I got action/adventure but I decided to focus on the element of action since my theme is based around on surivial. Then I add that thriller into the genre to add more tension to my writing in order to achieve what I wanted to write.

Short Story [One Shot]

My story will be based on solely one character. This way you can focus on their character even more to the littlest of detai and later this can help you introduce other characters.

Jinyoung

(Main Character)

I decided to only mention one character since that's is who I'll be writing in third person for and besides I introduce a few more to coming up in the story!

Description

It's only been a few months ever since that tragic day. He harshly recalls the moments of losing his family one by one falling to this virus called the Black Crystal. Now he found himself wondering around aimlessly trying to surivie alone as he faces the danger of raids.

Hearing the shards of glass crumble beneath his feet as his eyes were on alert entering this unknown area. The light fades behind in as darkness surrounds him with the light ahead of him behind his only source. Unconsciously he breaths slower avoiding him making too much noise. He kept his profile low away making it easier to stealth along with his journey across this building. Along the empty halls of this buildings were filled with rows of raided shops and many items that have been dirtied over time left around in his pathway. The walls were decorated with mould along with the floor making it already unpleasant to be in.

Only silence was left to accompany him as he swiftly grabs his head torch from his pocket and places the straps around his secured in tightly then he pulls up his hood to cover his head. Hearing the click of his torch making his final adjustment and shining the light around with the sense of fear crawling up his back yet he still kept his calm.

Heading in deeper to the building to see the structure of the building falling apart as if it was nothing as he continued on with his raid of the place to see what there was left in this huge with more light coming into view yet darkness still surrounds him. Then something in the corner off his eye catches his attention as he scans around the place from where he stood. The light fades in towards a peculiar shop as Jinyoung finds hope. He instinctively grabs hold of the rough handle and pulls out the katana from it’s slick black saya where it was shielded away when it was not in use. Grasps both of his hands tightly and begins to set a course towards the shop.

Jinyoung moves his head around as the light beams in the direction his eyes follow while entering the shop carefully still on alert for any signs of life. Scanning the broken shelves to the ones that have been barely touched by any it seems but to only find them empty. He mentally curses to himself finding more useless items laying around with the feeling of failure until out of sheer luck Jinyoung manages to find something he needed the most were medical supplies.

He kneels down placing the sword close by him gently and grabs a handful of packaged bandages quickly as his hand accidentally knocks one off from a ripened package as his eyes caught it trailing away from him. His light followed the bandages movement as it bounces back slightly against a pair of feet that he knew too familiarly well. The skin was tarnished black seeing the veins tainted in the same colour running across the skin left attached on looking of somewhat fresher than the rest. The same black crystal he fears the most that grew outwards from the open wound within it’s leg with the remaining skin around it rotten to a black colour.

His heart beats loudly to his hears and without second thought he quickly grabs the katana without care of making no sound and instantly sprints. Hearing the screeching call of what they call a monster that pierced his ears. Soon he began to hear more respond to the call of the previous one echoing down the halls as he exits the shop. His legs moved by themselves knowing full well not to stop but his eyes couldn’t help but look behind to see a distorted look of their face that made it unidentifiable for him to tell if that thing was once a human or not with multiple blackened crystals growing across it’s face. His heart was pounding harder feeling the fear cling on to him as he faces the front to find a clear path. Jinyoung considered on heading the same way back he got in but he already saw the creatures running towards him. That left him almost trapped like a sheep in a den.

This forced him to progress on forward without second thought as he sees another pathway. Feeling the presence of the first one follow him screaming out these inhuman like sounds as many other ed it as they began to appear after one and another from each side. He makes a sharp turn around the corner as he briefly looks to his side to see one. His arms held up instinctively preparing himself hearing the glass shatter along with the high pitched howls of the blackened jumping at him. He rolled across the ground violently feeling the pain hitting against his shoulder with one eye shut trying to deal with the pain while another barely open on the monster’s face is transforming from green to black veins across the face and their eyes pure white. Jinyoung struggles to get rid of the thing that kept him trapped struggling it’s way to him with both it’s arms wanting to grasp Jinyoung’s head. The sound of the others were closing in which made him lose hope of surviving this as he kept on struggling to push this monster away from him. It’s saliva drips down his face making his stomach twirl badly. Many moments flash before him as he mentally asks himself, ‘is this really the end for me?’

Then in one swift motion the sound of cracks and skin being pierced were heard as Jinyoung watched something hit the infected one across the head forcefully making it’s body swing away from him as the weapon gets pulled out quickly. His eyes were still on the lifeless body of this monster in a daze of what just happened to him while feeling somebody grasp around his arm trying to help him up. “Get the hell up, we gotta go now!” The person shouted out which snapped Jinyoung back to reality as he quickly looks around to find his katana laying beside him as he immediately grabs it and gets up on his feet then sprints off with the person tagged along with him taking the lead for him.

He barely saw the person’s face but knew too well the person was a male that held his metal baseball bat that had beaten in ice skate blades to it that was dripping this black blood of it. The unknown person leads him towards this narrow ageway of this building as Jinyoung nearly reaches to the end and suddenly sees another person pop out from the side who was much taller than him and the other boy and has a slimmer built. His leg props up the door to keep it open and shouts, “Youngjae hurry the hell up!”

This Youngjae person he glances behind Jinyoung, he finally gets to see his face but Jinyoung still barely got to see everything. The only thing he saw was Youngjae’s eyes go widen in shock which made Jinyoung look behind to see a crowd filled with them screaming down even louder than before. The taller dude quickly steps out from the door letting go of it as Jinyoung sees someone else from the shadows hold it for him from behind. “Duck guys!” The guy screams out forcing Jinyoung to throw himself along with Youngjae as the guy throws this mysterious object to the crowd.

Soon his hearing disappears to a piercing sound unable to hear as he feels the sudden pressure of wind es him then looks up to

see Youngjae’s face fully now as he grabs hold of Jinyoung again and pulls him along watching him mouth something which made Jinyoung react with a blank look. He looks behind to see smoke along with the ignition of flames happening behind him with the infected on fire yet some were still running towards them. Jinyoung’s eyes look back at him as he immediately drags himself back up and runs towards the door as the first one to exit without looking behind him. Then suddenly hears someone screech, “push it now bam!” Then loud bang echoed followed up by metal screeching behind him with the muttered noises of the infected behind the door.

Thoughts

I feel I've failed this challenge personally. I went over the word limit and this isnt even the completed version of this story. I originally was gonna end it shorter with the part of Jinyoung questioning his end but I couldn't help but add in the source of hope in this story. Personally I feel I haven't fully exceed to the true element of action which was the purpose of this challenge.

Overall I did enjoy my time writing out this story! I should say this is like 1/2 of the story, I've selected to enter in as since this idea is originally is meant for the challenge. So if you did enjoy this story, please do stay in tune for the finalised version of this~
