Alright ive been thinking heres my ideas so far for frisk and betty in glitchtale reimagined
I stated before that i thought Bettys betrayal would be much more impactful if she had an actual relationship with Frisk (yk , the MC) because i feel like by not making them have anything misses so much potential
This will be a ramble post so sorry if this is long !
If i were to rewrite Glitchtale, itd be unrealistically longer than it is now and i can forgive the rushed pacing of the show (somewhat) bc damm you try animating an entire anime season with character development and a properly structured story arc all by yourself (just kidding LOL its one of my aspirations come fight me)
I wouldve added more episodes just to show Frisk and Bettys relationship progressing and how much theyve built up to this fake friendship , perhaps frisk has known betty earlier a few weeks earlier from season 2s events anyway, idk just anything to get them to know each other better
They end up having this thing but really, Bettys just keeping Frisk around for her own benefit and ulterior motives. Theyre the human ambassador, and she wants to milk all the information from them and their family
As Bettys doing that, heres my idea for their dynamic. when i said Betty acts like an older sister figure to anyone she gets close to ? This person is Frisk , Betty presented herself as someone whos very timid and hypervigilant when they first met, unsure of how to adjust in the world with monsterkind around, and Frisk is there to help her see theyre not all that bad ! (Along with Jessica Grey i think, or maybe thats on a later date and Betty "helps" with that )
(Im unsure if i should add the car scene idk how they met but theyre there ill figure it out)
And over a couple of days with their friendship forming Unusually fast (jumpig from acquaintances to best friends in like a week) , Betty took herself the role of being someone who looks after Frisk
She does this very sweet thing where she copies what shes learned from frisk to help them (they helped her calm down and stay optimistic and determined when shes struggling or afraid, and she starts helping them with that too !)
Frisk is stressed out over their responsibilities as the ambassador of monsters, going from one political meeting to another and just dealing with a lot of things a little kid doesnt have to deal with, and theyre burnt out
Their timeline record in undertale is also a factor on the pressure they go through, but they never tell the monsters about it because ... they dont really know how
And theyre not ready to talk about it yet, or doesnt see it as a big deal
Until Betty magically wormed her way to Frisk telling her the most vulnerable parts of themselves, i can imagine a scene where the kid just breaks down on Betty and opens up about their worries and anxieties, and Bettys there to console them and it was very comforting because they were longing for something like this,
Everyone else is cool but it felt like, at that moment, Betty was the only person who doesnt see them as the Ambassador of monsters, or the savior of monsterkind , or whatever title was attached to them , she saw them as a little kid, and they cherised that and it made them open their heart up to her
And she repeats their words back at them , its going to be okay....
The fact that Betty wouldve been Frisk's first Human friend too OOOOUGGH THIS IS GONNA HURTT
There damn near inseperable, like they walk down the street holding hands, they chat a lot about random things, give each other hugs, you always just see them together
Betty makes Frisk very happy ! They talk about her a lot to Toriel, they started buying her things (ice cream, hairclips, etc.) they get so excited when they see her, when they let her stay in their place, Frisk was absolutely ecstatic, she was just... so perfect
And for Betty, the lonely runaway girl whos been alienated for her pink soul, Frisk makes her feel less alone
Its also why shes gotten clingy to them but they dont mind !
I think in short theyre just two kids who looked out for each other, and they ended up meaning a lot to each other, but ultimately the falling of their friendship devastates Frisk to the max and makes them lose their determination (along with the loss of their friends,) .
The whole ordeal gives them trust issues and a whole other trauma from all the emotional abuse that Betty did and still does to them, taking advantage of their vulnerabilities, completely breaking their trust, ragging on them time and time again for their past mistakes to make them lose the will to carry on , psychological torture, and all of this turned Frisk from a once optimistic and determined kid, to a shriveling fearful mess of their former self
and it was her exact plan all along
