Don't forgeet to check Agent Raven's profile, she'll post the other part of this blog as soon as she finishes it ^^

Warning! Spoilers about Glitchtale!

Cami released a new video about the backstory of a character we know particularly well: Bete Noire. The video is full of essential informations about the Battle of the Twin Siblings and the fate of Amber, and if you haven't already done it, go to watch it before reading this post

There are really a lot of things to say about the video and facts to be explained, so me and Agent Raven decided to do an unique tag team collab: I will explain all the lore facts related to this video and all the events which may appear unclear...

Chronology

The first scene happens immediately after Amber's birth: we can see young Copper and Agate, Mila and a guy who is probably Amber's father that takes her in arms. But when did this scene take place? We can easily guess it thanks to this old blog of Cami:

Analysis and clarifications about

We learned thanks to this pic that Amber was 4 when the war between humans and monsters took place, this means of course that the first event of the video happened 4 years before the war, when Copper and Agate were 15 and Mila was 21.

The other important events of the video (after some slices of the siblings life) are the two battles between Copper and Agate, and Amber's murder; thanks to this extract from the human history, we can exactly know when these events took place:

Analysis and clarifications about

About 10 years after the end of the war between the two races, the two wizards had their first fight against each others, all the subsequent events -the second fight, Amber and Copper's deaths, the creation of Bete- took place in the same year; Copper and Agate were 29 and Amber 14.

Amber's trait

Ever since Amber was revealed, the young princess' trait has been one of the most debated topics about Glitchtale, it was theorized that it could be Kindness, Patience, Integrity, maybe even Bravery or Determination.

Eventually, howewer, we found out that we were seeing only a face of the coin, and that e always had the answer in front of our eyes, without ever being able to guess it correctly:

Analysis and clarifications about

This is the first official drawing of Amber which was revealed several months ago, seeing it we can immediately notice that there are two dominant colors: the BLUE of her hairs, and the GREEN of her eyes...

The idea of a person with multiple traits (in particular, a soul with two traits) is not new: me, Raven and other people had thought that she could have this particular type of soul, in fact Cami stated this on her Tumblr:

Analysis and clarifications about

ūSpeaking about me and Raven, we had guessed correctly that Amber had two traits, and we had even guessed correctly one of them: Kindness, but we followed a red herring, and we thought that her second trait was Patience...until the release of the video...

Analysis and clarifications about

Thanks Jewel for the awesome gif

...and we learned that Amber's trait are Kindness and Integrity.

Some people found weird that the design of her soul resembles a lot the one of Asriel's, and even suggested the existence of a sort of link between the two souls, but this is, again, just a red herring: Cami stated that all the multi-trait souls switch continually color among the different traits of their owner. Asriel has got a portion of each of 6 different traits (besides DT), so his soul constantly changes between 6 colors, Amber has two traits so her soul constantly changes between the blue of Integrity and the green of Kindness; this is the reason why their soul look similar, but nothing more.

Anyway, what are the disadvantages of having two traits?

The strenght of every trait is directly influenced by the willpower and the emotions of each person, if those lack or are in opposition with the trait itself that person will most likely lose the trait, even if the concentration of it is really high; for example Rin, wizard of Patience, who had a soul with the highest percentage possible of her trait, had a lot of problem with it when she was a child. If a normal person can have troubles handling just a trait, Amber, who was just a child and had to deal with TWO traits, probably had double troubles! Especially if the two traits at issue, are not exactly the two easiest to deal with:

Little divagation: have you noticed that Amber's traits are Kindness, which is the most rare of the traits, and Integrity which instead is the most common of them? Hah

It's therefore possible that during her short life Amber lost one or both of her traits one or more times.

In these days I've heard a lot of people taking form granted that, since Amber's traits are Kindness and Integrity and the trait of her mother is Integrity, the trait of her father (unknown at the moment I'm writing this blog) HAS to be kindness.

Analysis and clarifications about
The cracked blue soul is of Amber's mother

Although this is actually possible, it's NOT 100% sure, in fact there's no kind of relationship between the trait of parents and that of their children, as stated by Cami in this Q&A:

Analysis and clarifications about

Souls are NOT inherited by parents, so Amber's traits are not related in no way by her parents'.

The fact that her mother had an Integrity soul is just a coincidence, let's not forget that Integrity is the most common trait among people, so it's not strange that she had that soul. Amber's father so COULD have a soul of Kindness, but the probability of it is one in six, far from being certain.

Same trait, same fate?

Let's focus now on what exactly happened to Amber's mother: in the very first scenes of the video we have seen Mila, wizard of Kindness, who is desperately trying to heal the soul of Amber's mother immediately after the birth of the little Lightvale:

Analysis and clarifications about

in fact, it is possible to see an aura of green magic around the mother's body, it represents Mila's desperate attempt to save her cracked soul that is about to break, an attempt destined to fail, as evidenced by Mila's resigned face:

Analysis and clarifications about

and the unmistakable sound of a destroyed soul followed by Agate's shocked face ( that Amber's mother is also Agate's mother):

Analysis and clarifications about

At the moment, it's impossible to make theories about why her soul is cracked, however it's possible to guess, thanks to two old Cami's answers, why not even Mila, the most powerful healer of the kingdom, could save her:

Analysis and clarifications about
Analysis and clarifications about

When a soul is cracked it can't be completely healed; the crack will shorten the life span of the soul's owner, also we know that the soul will slowly continue to crack until its destruction, bringing the person to death UNLESS, it's said, it's healed magically (the cracks would still remain)

Now again, why couldn't Mila heal her wound? The three hypothesis I have are:

1) The wound of her soul was too serious and not even Mila could heal it;

2) At first the crack wasn't too serious and could have been healed, but nobody noticed it, and the soul slowly continued to crack until the damage was irreparable

3)Her soul had already been healed in the past, but the damage was so serious that her life had been greatly shortened, and eventually the crack in her soul brought her to die without Mila being able to do anything this time to save her.

Whatever the answer is, one thing is certain: we see a soul of Integrity that breaks and...it may not be the last we'll see, because we know that there's ANOTHER soul of Integrity in Glitchtale which is slowly cracking and shortening the life span of its owner:

Analysis and clarifications about
The soul is slowly cracking

Jessica's soul.

When the leader of the AMD used for the second time the AMR gun against Sans, her soul cracked a bit, and from that moment it slowly continued to crack (as shown in the previous pic)... until it will be completely broken.

Is it possible that what we have seen happened to Amber's mother is foreshadowing what will happen to Jessica? The first sympthoms have already occurred: in the same scene from where the previous pic was taken, we have seen Jessica coughing blood and having the sight blurred. Can Toriel save her? Maybe, but we have seen that a crack never disappears completely and that once a soul is damaged, the life is irreparably shortened. It seems that the question we have to ask is "when Jessica will die" and not "will she die": the woman's destiny seems to be tragically marked...

The fear trait

If on one hand Glitchtale Origins has given us many new certanities, on the other it has taken away several ones which we had taken for granted.

The most striking example is for sure the color of the Fear trait: in fact, after months in which we were sure that its color was pink like Betty, the truth turned out to be quite different when we saw the color of Agate's soul after she inverted her trait, the true color of Fear:

Analysis and clarifications about

dark orange.

But if dark orange is the true color of the soul of Fear, then what does the Pink represent?

Cami gave us this answer:

Analysis and clarifications about

"Pink is the result of a soul being used as a spell"

What does it mean? It means that pink COULD NOT be necessairly related to Fear, but its trait depends on that of the person who casted the spell; this why Betty is the pink soul of Fear, not because pink is the color of fear, but because Agate, the person who casted that spell, had the fear trait.

Analysis and clarifications about

Thanks Eliza5ever for making always awesome drawings for my blogs

Pink is just a standard color for the soul created by a spell, this means that for example if an inverted soul of Justice (color: dark yellow) casted the Bete Noire spell on someone, the color would always be pink, but the trait would be inverted-Justice.

The Bete Noire...spells?

For months we have theorized about what is exactly the Bete Noire spell and we have discovered lots of information about it, but there were always some little missing dettails about how it works; thanks to Glitchtale Origins we've solved all the mysteries about it...but it also gave us new questions...

At the beginning of the video we can read what's the spell and then that...

Analysis and clarifications about

"...it's alao one of the strictly forbidden inverted magic spellS..."

The Bete Noire spell is, as we know, a spell forbidden by the laws of magic, howewer from the text we learn that it's NOT the only forbidden spell, there are other similar spells that probably invert the soul trait like the Bete Noire one. What could be these spells?

It's supposed that there's a "Bete Noire spell" for each trait (besides DT of course), and that all these spells were all forbidden for the same reason: they are extremely dangerous for the person who cast this kind of magic.

In fact, it has been said that an inverted soul is really unstable, and that there are high chances of dying when someone artificially uses this spell on their own soul; not even Agate's soul could adapt at the sudden change, and consequently the life of the wizard was cut short.

And here ends this new blog, sorry for the lack of new content, but lately I have been really busy with school and extra-activities, and I was able to complete my part of this tag-team only thanks to the winter-break ,__,

I hope you enjoyed this analysis, and don't forget to read Agent Raven's review!

I have to debunk on one thing; you claimed that Amber's father has the same chances for all traits. But that's not actually true.

Let's get more... biological, shall we? Traits; including personality and certain appearance aspects are inherited from the parental pair, a combination of both their... uh... y'know... seeds. Forming the zygot. In that process, the genes from both parents mixed together.

There's two possibilities from this, one is that one of the traits will be the dominant, and the other stowed away, being the recessive, EITHER that, or the traits can be mixed together.

I assume you're getting what I'm saying. Amber's father can very well possess a green soul, the kindness trait, and when she was born, the two traits of both of her parents mixed together to form an intermediate; well, in this case, a double-trait.

Indeed, while she can be highly affected by envinronment, but Kindness isn't as easily affected as other traits. Plus, based on an article I've read, personalities, IQ levels, and other of the same page are actually more connected to DNA than environment.

Just my two cents.

Recall what the traits are: Kindness, that's a personality. Patience, that's strike two, Bravery, strike three. I can infer that all traits are personalities. Personalities CAN be inherited by parents.

I'm just showing you what Cami said, then personality may not be always inherited by parents, after all in biology there's something called "crossing-over"

The child doesn't always have the same characteristics of the parents, something is always different

Then, you should ask Cami about this, she will give you an answer better than mine for sure

Crossing-over are generally based off the parental genes, and I honestly doubt Amber gets her personality altered, let's look at her actions depicted in the video, shall we?

Amber is seen as a baby, being the giddy ol' child she is, and then, a shot of her playing around with her brothers, reading a book and co. One of the scenes depict her looking moderately young proudly showing her hybridal soul. I might sound ageist, but based on the height, I conclude she's a tween of the sort. Looking back at her actions and age, it's very unlikely that she gets exposed to any traumatizing experience that altered her traits.

In addition to the idea that there may be more forbidden spells for each trait, it may be one of the possibilities of why the wizards went missing.

Why and what happened, I can't be sure.
