EPILOGUE
You return to the house and make a
decision.
You know who the killer is, there’s no
doubt in your mind.
You take them back to the police station
and sit them down. You’re both silent for
a moment but the killer understands why
you’ve brought them here.
Curse sighs and finally speaks:
“Fine, yes, technically I did murder Aaron.
And by “technically”, I mean I’ve been
planning it for months. that spat
we had a few months ago about the Theme
Manager position? Yeah, it wasn’t a spat, I
was furious. Aaron doesn’t deserve to be
in charge of the themes but xey just
wouldn’t give it up! I just… couldn’t stop
thinking about it. It wasn’t so much the
position but the idea that Aaron could do it
better. Everyone knows that’s not true.
Did you know I was promoted a month after
becoming curator? They saw my potential
then, and it’s not fair that Aaron should have
something I don’t.
Planning it was the most fun. The waiting, the
anticipation. It was simple, really, I just waited
until Aaron was alone and stabbed xem in the
back. Then a few more times for good
measure. I cleaned the knife in the bathroom
and chucked it in the kitchen trash while
everyone was distracted by the body.
Frankly, I thought it went really well. Or
as well as murder can go, I suppose.
If you hadn’t been there, I would’ve gotten
away with it. My life would’ve been perfect,
then. Well, actually, I’ve always wanted to be
Agent…”
Curse is grinning.
Just like that, it’s over. You walk out
of the room.

fun to plan. Don’t forget to go congratulate

CLUES
Here is a breakdown of
all the clues that pointed
to Curse and a small explanation
for each. Some of these were
way more obvious than others,
no one was meant to get all of them.
Some were, in all honesty, just for fun.
The dagger:
- It had a jade blade which was very
briefly mentioned in a poem on Curse’s
wall.
- The hyacinths on the hilt meant jealousy
(for the theme manager title)
- The colour of the hilt (gold) was meant
to be reminiscent of Curse’s colouring but
could also pretty easily point to Cora and
possibly Lae
- The black ribbon tied to the hilt
represented grief and mourning but it’s
also a common way to curse an object (get
it? Curse?)
- The dagger is also described to be clean
because it was cleaned by Curse in the
bathroom
The diary:
- Mentions of jealousy by Curse and envy
for the Theme manager position
The accusations:
- Curse claims to have been with Lae before
the murder but both of them had previously
claimed that they hadn’t interacted.
Aaron’s wall:
- Curse mentions the theme manager position.
The posts:
- The background of Day 2 is from “The
Martian Chronicles” by Ray Bradbury.
Curse had a quote in their bio from that
book. (Also just Curse’s favourite book)
- The background of Day 3 is yellow hyacinths
which represent jealousy.
Other:
- There was a hyacinth emoji in Curse’s bio
which referenced the ones on the dagger
- The quote in Curse’s bio is from a scene
where a character has just finished murdering
multiple men from their crew.
- Curse was given the Theme Manager title.
- A trail of blood from the kitchen proved that
the killer left the kitchen. Which meant it
couldn’t be Lae (who found the body).
