The Ninja turtles have been seeing somewhat of a surge in popularity as of late with there latest film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem not only being a surprise hit at the box office but also spawning it's very ow sequel TV show and an sequel movie as well. However it wasn't always rosy for these characters as there was a time in the mid to late twenty ten's where the film that i'm going to be reviewing really damn near killed the brand at the box office and so then me as I review the film that tried to be like the original cartoon but failed at being an actually good movie with the film in question being called simply just "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows" enjoy.
The plot of this film is two years after the events of the first The Shredder is broken out while being transferred to another prison and it's up the turtles and there allies April O'Neil and Casey Jones to stop him and defeat a new villain called Krang before it's far to late. Now then in of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty i in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as it did feel like a plot that the original animated show would do when it was at it's height but at the same time tho this films plot really doesn't make for a good plot for a feature film as it just comes across as being very lackluster and like it's trying to hard to cool and edgy where as the plot of the 1990 film just was both of those things and yet it still managed to keep the goofy tone of the show whilst blending it with the more serious tone of the original comics something that this films plot quite clear has trouble doing as the more serious moments come across as being far to goofy to be taken seriously and the more goofy moments just don't work say what you what will about the plot of the previous film but they at least new to keep the plot serious when they needed to and be goofy when they needed to be something that just isn't the case with this films plot at all with the plot of this film also not really being really rather entertaining and nor is it really rather engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Pete Ploszek as Leonardo , Alan Ritchson as Raphael and Jeremy Howard as Donatello. Also starring in this film is Noel Fisher as Michelangelo , Tony Shalhoub as The Voice Of Splinter , Gary Anthony Williams as Anton "Bebop" Zeck , WWE star Stephen "Sheamus" Farrelly as Owen "Rocksteady" Rocksteed , Brad Garrett as Krang , Brittany Ishibashi as Karai , Megan Fox as April O'Neil , Arrow star Stephen Amell as Casey Jones , Laura Linney as Police Chief Rebecca Vincent , Tyler Perry as Dr. Baxter Stockman , Will Arnett as Vern "The Falcon" Fenwick and Brian Tee as The Shredder.
Now then in of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. Which is something that does make alot of sense as alot of this films actors are returning from the previous film with even alot pf them returning to voice the same characters as well and as such it really does make sense that they would turn in a good performance as they know how best to perform there respective character in fact the only bad actor from the first film is Megan Fox who was at best ible in the first film and yet here she's just don't right bad with her coming across as being very disinterested in what's being said on screen and alot of the time she just looks bored and like she wants to be quite literally anywhere else but making this movie right now with the films newer actors trying to turn in a good performance as well but for one reason or another it just doesn't happen which is a shame as on paper this films newer actors really could have saved this films acting with the acting that's in this film not really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so bad as it gives none of this films actors absolutely nothing to work with in of what it is that there respective characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does help to hurt the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the CGI for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Industrial Light & Magic , Ghost VFX , Atomic Fiction , Base FX , Whiskytree , Animatrik Film Design , fx3x , Virtuos , BOT VFX , Shade VFX and Lola Visual Effects. Now then in of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as the films CGI was quite easily on par with the effects from the first film and while the effects in that first paramount movie have started to show there age a little bit the same thin cannot be said for this films effects but they are getting there tho as alot of the effects that looked good even as late as a few years ago now don't look as good and while that might be due to the fact that this film didn't have that large of budget n the first place it's also due to the fact that the effects in any effects heavy movie such as this one do start date rather quickly as effects are always being improved upon and while the turtles look really good and there some good looking water effects Splinter looks like that he got a downgrade from the first and Krang just doesn't look as good as he really could have done with both Bebop and Rocksteady being just ible at best as there are some shots where they do look good but then there are alot some shots where they look really bad and it's the same thing for alot of this films effects as well as alot of them have shots where they look but they also have alot more shots where they also look really bad as well.

As was mentioned earlier on in this review this film does introduce quite alot of aspects from the original animated series. As not only do we get Krang , Baxter Stockmen , Bebop and Rocksteady but we also get The Technodrome as well and while it is great that the makers of this film chose to include all of those things as alot of them are things that the people who really loved that original 1980's show have wanted to see in a live action film even as early as the 1990 film but at the same time tho the film doesn't really spend alot of time to really flesh any of them out as characters with the film even straight up dropping Krang or alot of the film even to the point where it would be understandable if you forgot that he was even a character in the film which wouldn't be a bad thing except for the fact that he's meant to be the main villain of the film and yet he's given no development as a character and Bebop and Rocksteady have been reduced to mindless thugs and while yes they were pretty dumb in the original show the makers of the show had the chance to flesh out there characters over the course of multiple seasons of the show where as this film only have one movie to do all of that and yet really the only thing that they do with them is have them make adult jokes and say my man and that's really it and that's really it but those three characters get the gold star treatment when compared to Baxter Stockmen who is just meant to be the typical nerdy character and nothing more then that as he gets no development whatsoever and just like Krang is dropped for a large portion of this films running time.
For a film that's not only called Out Of The Shadows but also has the turtles trying to fit in with society they actually don't step out of the shadows at all. With them just going back to the way that things were at the start of the film which makes not only this film pointless to watch but also Mikey and Raph's subplot as well as they both have to deal with wanting to step out of the shadows and be in public alot more then what they already are and yet the makers of this film don't go all the way with that idea which makes it feel undercooked and half baked where as if the makers of this film did see those subplots all the way through to there proper conclusion then they should have ended the film with the turtles stepping out into the sunlight and get cheered by the public as that then whilst it will yes be hated by the people who really do love these characters it would still be something that sees those subplots come to and end in a more natural way instead of just having Raph throw the bottle of liquid that could turn them human again a wall and breaking and then having him say that it's no fun being normal at the end of the movie when a moment like that has not only not been earned it's also something that goes against what both his and Mikey's subplot was for this movie as well and this is something that wouldn't have happened if the writers of this film actually gave a damn about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as a franchise and not just as a quick , simple and easy paycheck as all that does is make them look like incredibly lazy screenwriters as well as people that just don't care about this franchise in anyway shape of form.

To give the makers at least some form of credit they do do the best that they possibly could have done with the Casey Jones characters. As this is a film that's meant to be geared towards a much more younger audience then say the 1990 film was and as a result is the fact that they would have of cause had to tone down the character of Casey Jones in order to really make him more child friendly but at the same time tho the 1990 film was made with little kids in mind and yet they still had him be a pretty violent character and heck he technically KILLED Shredder at the very end of that movie and yet he was still a good guy he was a still a hero character whereas the Casey Jones in this film just feels like that he's trying far to hard to be a bada*s where as the one live action film simply just was one and yet if the makers of this film played to actor Stephan Amell's strengths and written the character like he was written n either the comic or the original 1990 movie instead of how he was most likely done in 1980's cartoon series then we would have ended up with not only a much more better written charac6er but one that people actually like instead of one that people just find laughable as the only few things that he shares with Casey Jones is his name , love of hockey and the fact that he might get a little violent sometimes only the one in the 1990 movie which is more like the Casey Jones from the comic books is more likely to punch you in the face first and ask you a question later this one feels like he'll ask you several questions first before possibly maybe hitting you in the face and that's just not who Casey Jones is as a character.
Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and fifty two minuets and seven seconds. Which is a decent enough running time for this film to have and to this films credit the film really does have more then enough there in of plot to really cover that amount of running time but at the same time tho there really was no need for this film to be as long as it was as while the film has more then enough plot there to cover that running time this is a film that really should have been around the one hour and thirty minuet mark and not even close to being two hours as all that does is stretch out what is already a pretty thinly drawn out storyline and make it even thinner then what it already is with alot of the scenes added to the film to help it get to that point feel like filler as there was no need for the turtles to have the same subplot that they had in the last movie where they struggle with the bonds of brotherhood and what it means to be a brother to someone which was the exact same subplot that they had in the previous movie only this time it's Leo that gets that subplot and not Raph and that's literally it and that subplot does feel like fuller as we know how it all plays out due to it being present in the previous movie with alot of the stuff with Bebop and Rocksteady feeling like filler scenes as well and if the film really wanted to use it's running time more wisely then what the makers of this film really should have done is scrap the turtles subplot as it's pointless cut down alot of the Bebop and Rocksteady stuff and focus on developing your main plot and your new characters but because of the fact that the makers of this film really don't do that we end up with a film that's be to frank an overstuffed mess of a film but I really will it that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is ana action film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us i this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty the best aspect of this film. As it's where the turtles got to actually feel like themselves as while yes we do get scenes with the turtles acting goofy and just having fun much like how they did in the elevator scene in the last movie but it's during this films action scenes that we get flashed of the turtles personalities with each of the turtles doing something in this films many action sequences that let's us the audience know just who they are as people with Leo always thinking three moves ahead , Raph just going in head first , Donny being more reserved and Mikey just doing the most extreme thing possible just because he can do them all of those things are true to who the turtles are as characters and as a result of that is the fact that us the audience get to see some really fun and creative action scenes and that is something that tells us that this films director Dave Green put alot more effort into directing the films action scenes then he did in directing the rest of the movie as while the rest of this film is a complete and total mess of a film from start to finish it's this films action scenes that stop it from being a complete and total snooze fest as that's just how good all of this films many actions really well and truly are in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this film really is most certainly alot more better then Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III was that's not exactly a really high bar to reach and clear but in saying that tho this film really is still a pretty bad film so much so that it took a whopping SEVEN years for there to be another Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie as that's just how bad that this film really was in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 5.5 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images hat I personally used in this very review from the official Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great Google Images this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from the really great the official Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fandom wiki page are all really high quality really with all of the images that really are all and of course really currently up and on the really great and the really solid the official Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fandom wiki page really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
