Hellraiser: Judgment Review

Ok horror fans I know that's been a long time since i've posted anything horror related but in my defense there's not really been anything to talk about that was until I went online and saw that the new Hellraiser movie was out and since i'm not a fan of these movies nor have I seen one I thought this would be great to review from an outsiders perspective.

Now I would very much like to talk about the story but there basically isn't any to talk about in fact the story it self is so thin that Monty Python made a joke about it in the mid-eighties. I don't know why horror sequels think it's ok to have a thin story because it's not there has to be a story worth telling otherwise what's the point.

The film stars Damon Carney , Luke Duke ( no really it's the same actor from the 2007 Dukes Of Hazzard prequel) , Nancy Thompson , Alexandra Harris and Paul T. Taylor. I have to say having not seen any of the other movies I like Paul as Pinhead I get that Doug Bradley has a lot of fans but for a new generation of fans Paul is the actor to go with the rest of the actors apart from Heather i'd say need a few more acting lessons because yeah there acting isn't that good.

I'll give the film this for a straight to DVD movie the makeup is pretty damn impressive and I think that's due to the fact that the director / writer of the film Gary J. Tunnicliffe was the one who did the make up for the series since the third movie and indeed he helped with the makeup for this movie as well.

For a sequel to a legendary horror franchise you'd think there would be some decent scares well i'm here to tell you that you are 100% wrong while there are some creepy and disturbing scenes in the movie there's nothing that will make stay awake at night instead the film focuses more on jump scares and as we all know those simple are not scary.

Now there's a twist in the third act however since the film chooses not to have much of a story the twist doesn't have the impact that it should have had and I think that really hurt the film because the idea of the twist which I won't spoil is a solid idea but due to the lack of story it makes it feel like an after thought.

Overall i'd say if your a Hellraiser fan then chances are your already planning to check this out when it comes out in a few weeks and while this could serve as a good jumping on point for new fans I can't recommend it to them as like me they might end up poking a lot of holes so I give this film a 3 out of 10.
