PIXAR used to be a studio that not only produced quality film after quality film but also produced films that could make you cry one minuet and then have you burst laughing the next. However they have recently started to produce alot more misses then hits and while this is also due to the fact that Disney put alot of their films straight to Disney+ it's also due to the fact that alot of those films just weren't that good to begin with the film i'm going to be talking to you all about today being a really good PIXAR film that sadly not alot of people talk about and so then me as I review the film that made audiences cry over a side characters death with the film in question being called simply just "Coco" enjoy.
The plot of this film is when he accidentally finds himself in the land of the dead twelve year old Miguel has until sunrise to get back to the real world or else he will never be able to leave the land of the dead forever. Now then in of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good as it was not only a really creative plot that works in the themes of death and family in really subtle ways but it was also a really original plot as well something that PIXAR still does really well and while the plot of the film does have a few moments that aren't that creative nor original the plot on the whole is one that's a really creative and original plot line and while the plot of this films does share similarities to the film The Book Of Life based on a very quick read of that films Wikipedia page the similarities to seem to at best coincidental with this film not outwardly ripping off that film with this films plot also dealing with the theme of fame and what lengths people will go to to achieve it which is something that really hasn't explored in a kids film like this and because of that and the fact that it does tie into the films central theme of death and how unexpected it can arrive it is something that does make the plot of this film standout from alot of other animated films as well with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then in of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Which was something that was quite shocking as all of this films actors aren't that well known or are at the very least very little known actors and therefor it would have been foolish to expect the acting from this film to be top notch and yet that's exactly what kind of quality acting that we got as all of this films actors really did deliver some truly wonderful performances so much so that the makers of this film would be foolish to not bring as many of them back as they could possibly do for the sequel as that's just how good this films actors are in this film with all of them getting a moment to shine in some of this films more emotional moments as well as the films more lighter moments as well and yet even with all of that all of this films performances feel like that that they come from a real and genuine place and not something that the actors are struggling to come up with and because of that all of this films characters also oddly enough feel alot more real and genuine as a result of that as well with the acting that's in this very film also being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them more naturally which is somethin that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the animation for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Pixar Animation Studios. Now then in of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty like the rest of this film excellent which is really the best word that can be used to describe the animation in this film as that's exactly what it is it's excellent with the film having alot of very vibrant colors in both the land of the living and the land of the dead and yet at the same time they both have two vastly different central colors as well with orange being used for the land of the living and blue being used for the land of the dead and both of those work really well as orange represents warm where as blue represents cold and dead with even all of this films backgrounds having alot of detail that help to make the world that this film takes place in feel alot more real and lived in as well which was a nice touch as well with all of this films characters not only having very unique looking designs to them but also having alot of really fluid movements to them as well with the animation in this film really shining in the land of the dead as that's where the animators got to be alot more creative not only with the character designs but also the backgrounds as while yes granted everything in the land of the living does still look good it's also grounded in what is possible where as in the land of the dead there more grounded by what could be possible which is something that does make those scenes feel alot more alive as you never really know what great piece of animation that your going to be seeing next in one of those scenes.

This film like alot of PIXAR films had alot of grown up crying their eyes out and like with Toy Story 3 it was due to something that's going to happen to alot of us and that's loosing a loved one. With this film handling that subject matter very delicately as while it is apart of the main plot of the film it's not something that's focused on all that much with the film instead focusing on Miguel trying to get back to the land of the living and yet at the same time this film doesn't need to focus on as all of the other main characters are already dead with the only truly surprise death coming at the end and that's great as dying is always going to be a surprise when it happens even if the person has been ill and on deaths door for a while it will still catch you off guard when it happens with it being handled with alot of respect as even tho we see that Mama Coco is basically suffering from dementia as we see her forget Miguel's name at the start of the film because of how well that character had been built up we the audience do forget about her illness and even seeing her "come back" when Miguel starts of ting " Me" it makes her death all the more shocking as all of us have older relatives we think are going to be around forever because they just will be and yet when there not there anymore it hurts all the more and i'm speaking from experience when I say that as I myself early last year lost my Grandma so everything that Miguel would have gone throw when Mama Coco ed I can relate to because I myself went throw it but that just goes to show you just how well done not only her death was but also the theme of death as it's something that you never really know is there until it happens by which point your already crying because of how well done it is.
Like alot of modern Disney film this film does also have a surprise villain which in this case is Ernesto De La Cruz. With his character at first being presented as being a cocky hero that wrote all of these wonderful songs and starred in all of these movies and yet as the film goes on we see that he's a manipulator who quite literally killed his songwriting partner Hector when Hector was feeling homesick and just wanted to see Coco again with Ernesto's quest for fame and greed taking control of him and that's something that does make him a somewhat interesting character as for the most part we never really know what we're going to get from his character as one minuet he could be laughing and telling a joke and yet the very next minuet he could be dark and sinister and that is something that does work well enough for this character with the only thing that lets his character down being the fact that he's not that well devel0ped as a character as the film doesn't really spend alot of time with him with the film instead spending alot more time on developing the friendship between Hector and Miguel which is fair enough as there friendship does also help to make the film work as well but at the same time if makers of this film truly wanted to throw us of the twist that Hector is actually Miguel's great-great-grandfather and not Ernesto then the makers of this film really should have showed us more of Ernesto being kind to Miguel with it first being genuine but then the more it goes on the more that it becomes clear that he's manipulating Miguel and then you have him go full on villain where as here in this film he and Miguel barely spend any time together before he's reveal as the person that killed Hector which makes that big reveal come out of nowhere as we he audience really hadn't had enough time to really get to know this character in the first place.

Oddly enough this film is a musical with songs written by Germaine Franco , Adrian Molina , Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez. While this films songs are some really good songs it is odd seeing PIXAR of all people do a musical film as those are typically done by Disney with this films songs being really good with the true stand out song being of course " Me" which actually takes on more meaning the more times that it's played as at the start of the film it's this big bombastic number that's meant to be Ernesto's way of telling the people there to him and nobody else but the more times that we hear the song and more peeled back that it gets we actually get to find out that it's really about a father asking his daughter not to forget about him while he's away and that he won't be forgetting about her either which is just such a sweet little song and is a really daring thing to do as in musicals you usually start with the more stripped back version of a song before then ending the film with the more big a bombastic version of it and while the film does have other and more fun songs in it like "Un Poco Loco" for example nothing will ever be able to top " Me" not just because it's the song that's most associated with this film but because of the fact that it is that good of a song in it's own right with all o the versions of this song being very well sung as well as being very well written by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez who prove that they can write good songs for more then just the Frozen films as they more then prove that they can write just good songs in general something that they have proven time and time again with all of this films songs being woven into the plot of the film in a natural way something that alot of musicals just don't do where they instead stop the plot of the film just to have a song where as with this film the songs happen so that they can advance the plot of the film or play a very important part in the plot of the film itself.
Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and forty five minuets and two seconds. Which to be fair to this film is a really solid running time for this film to last as this film really does have the right amount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time with the only thing that lets this film down from a running time point of view being the fact that this film doesn't really use it's running time all that wisely as while yes granted this films plot is as fully developed as it will ever be it's the films characters that aren't well developed as we barely get to spend any time with Miguel before the main plot of the film truly starts of and then we don't get to find out all that much about his character and while that doesn't prevent us the audience from deciding on if we like him or not it does make the character feel a tad bit underdeveloped with this being something that the makers of this film really could have taken the time to fix as that is something that would have helped make the film even more better then what it already is with the other major thing being the fact that none of the films side characters from the land of the living all that memorable as the only two that are actually pretty decently developed being Mama Coco and Abuelita and that's really it with alot of them being so forgettable that they could have bee left out of the film entirely and not only would that not effect the plot of the film but us the audience wouldn't even notice where as if you were to do the same to any of the Madrigal family from Encanto sure it won't effect the plot of that film all that much either but us the audience would notice as there fully formed and well thought out characters but I really will it that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. AS this film does have more of a focus on it's musical aspect then it does it's comedy aspect which is understandable as this is meant to be a musical film after all but at the same time tho when this film does tell a funny joke you really do know it as what makes alot of this films jokes work isn't just the joke itself it's the fact that us the audience had gotten the time to get know alot of these characters and there for when they do do something that's slightly funny it becomes even more funny as it feels like something that that character would say or do with it being hard to say what this films best joke is as alot of this films jokes are just the dead relatives throwing around there various body parts or body parts of other people from the land of the dead dropping off whenever they see Miguel but if push does come to shove the best joke in this film is the one where Miguel first enters the land of the dead and a young dead girl sees him before her mother comes up to her telling not to stare only to stare herself and get scared by the fact that Miguel isn't dead which is pretty funny and cute joke and while it might not be the best joke in the film it is one that at the very least deviates away from the films formular of just having body parts fall of of the land of the dead which is still painfully funny it's just that every once in a while it's nice to have something different and that's exactly what that joke was in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this film might be getting a sequel in 2029 it won't be able to top just how good that this film as this is a film that really didn't need a sequel as there's no more story left to tell with this film wrapping up everything in a nice little bow with this film being one that should be ed as it's one of the more better films that PIXAR has put out recently as it's just that good in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 10 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Disney fandom wiki page and the official PIXAR fandom wiki page. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great the official Disney fandom wiki page this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from the really great the official Disney fandom wiki page are all really high quality really with all of the images that really are all and of course really currently up and on the really great and the really solid the official Disney fandom wiki page really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
