Some of you know, that I left AZ and went to CA on May 29th. I took a job there and they gave me a 2020 Ram 2500 4x4. I got stuck with the long bed, which sucked, as a lot of locations are on tight trails. So after a week I traded it for a short bed. I also had an option of taking a Silverado, but compared to Ram, it was nowhere near as nice inside, and had lower ground clearance.
It’s a 6.4 L Hemi, Bighorn. I also had a choice of Cummins, but DEF tank location decreased its ground clearance, and I didn’t want to rip it off. I got it on June 25th, with 15 miles on it. I gave it up today, July 17th with 2844 miles, and moved on to another job.
So in a month and 2 days, I drove the short bed 2829 miles
Overall, it was a fun experience. I enjoyed off roading while working. I really liked the RAM and how it performed, its drivability and comfort level. I had few hiccups where it refused to climb, but it really wasn’t made to go up 35°+ inclines, while on loose rock. I had to hike few miles here and there, but it shaped me up a bit
First, the long bed

This is when I got the short bed. This thing drove so much better, and was way easier to maneuver around trails and switchbacks, especially when I couldn’t turn around sometimes and had to back up 1/4 mile, on a side of the mountain. Dash is pretty nice, with “hi-def” back up cam. Shifter knob is different, but I got used to it quick and like it.

Sometimes the trail was blocked. I sure love my Milwaukee, battery operated chainsaw.

Other times it was too steep, truck was too heavy, on street tires, with loose rocks, and then I had to hike. I wish they gave us Wranglers, or Gladiators.

All four tires looked like this, before the odometer hit 700 miles :satisfied:

FOURTH OF JULY!

Hi-def backup cam. This thing is really, really clear. Chevy’s looked like 1960s technology next to this.

I took my pup one day, on one of my adventures and wore him out. We hiked over 4 miles that day

Look how “tiny” that 2500 looks

Little crop duster action

I get to drive a lot of the new RAM 1500s at my job and they are really nice, glad you enjoyed it and it seems like it was pretty capable for the task besides the steep hills! Really cool to find that out
Honestly, I like the nose on the 1500 better. I think it looks pretty sleek.
Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me! I think a lot of people sleep on the new Ram trucks but they're really some of the nicest trucks on the market right now.
Noice! My dad is looking to buy a ram with the new eco diesel on it
It looks great tho :sunglasses:
Can't go wrong with a job that gives you a vehicle to use
