This is the fun part of classic car ownership it includes adding your own personality to it as well as finding the underlying issues that the previous owner didn’t know about.
allow me to get into the first of the 2 elements of this post and that is adding personal flare
some black bench seats from a 64 falcon for $300
cherry bomb glasspack exhaust $100
patch work done for $350
so for $750 you can add some personal pazazz to your classic granted you could do it for a lot more which I will eventually but as for right now I’m happy with what I got
now what about repairs surely they will happen. Well I’ve had to send my car to the shop 2 times since July for 2 reasons the first time my ignition switch fucking broke
![The cost to maintain and rebuild a classic part 2-[IC] This is the fun part of classic car ownership it includes adding your](https://image.staticox.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fpm1.aminoapps.vertvonline.info%2F8398%2F08fb4ca8a18f09e417a10a64a5d73bd66ed29f23r1-1170-1561v2_hq.jpg)
now I had 2 options 1. Just connect the battery to the solenoid to start it up and disconnect it to shut it off or 2 get it fixed. Now for 2 days I did option 1 but eventually did option 2 which for the part itself and the repair itself ran me about $300 so not bad
and just this past week I had the entire transmission rebuilt for $1600 so that’s that
$9050 from part 1
$2650 from part 2
——————————
$11700 total
so there you have it $11,700 total and that doesn’t include the plans I have for it in the next 6 months which includes a complete rewire for $4000 and an engine swap which I haven’t got a estimate for yet
so does me asking for $8000-$10000 sound so fucking insane now?
also I’m not going to really get into the cost to daily driving it, it costs about $30 a week to fill it up $10 a month to get it washed and that’s about it

People just don't consider all the work that may have gone into it. I've seen fully restored ones go deep into the 30,000's. Keeping a relic on the road ain't cheap, especially as parts get harder to find and you have to have shit custom made for it. I don't know if you did any of the work yourself, but I'd ask for more for all the blood, sweat and tears. Though if I got my hands on a piece of history like that I wouldn't even sell it unless they offered enough for me to get and restore another
Things I did myself
- new radiator put in
- my own oil changes
- bench seats and exhaust
- steering box
- putting disc brakes in the front
- putting the new shifter in
- a fuck ton of front end work
Oh and I’m not selling it I have no reason to and the highest offer I’ve got is $10,000 lmfao like no

$10,000? I think people just assume all those parts spawned out if thin air and installed themselves. Probably also the people that complain about prices on hand-made furniture. Glad your keeping it dude, it's a nice one

Exactly and at this point I’m almost done with it only things left are the engine swap and rewire then I’ll paint and all that good stuff
