Possibly the coolest concept car I’ve seen

The Mazda RX-500

I started looking at Mazda’s concept cars and found this. It’s Mazda’s mid-engined rotary concept car from 1970 and I had no idea this thing existed.

Engine: As the name RX suggests, the engine is a 491cc single-rotor wankel engine that’s mounted forward of the rear axle, producing 247 hp. Pretty good for 1970.

Exterior: The RX-500 features forward-swinging butterfly doors. The rear hood is in two pieces and also has gullwing doors. The rear is in my opinion the coolest part. It has multi-coloured lights which indicate whether the car is speeding up, braking or cruising.

Interior: It’s nice. Pretty simple and not very many buttons. I also like the unique green and orange seats, that hint at the time period it was made in.
