Disneys Connected Universe Pt2 (House Cup)

You thought we dove deep into the web of disney last time... No, that was just scratching the surface. Today, we. go. deeper.

Hello GT Amino, welcome to Film Theory, where today we're diving even deeper into the connected universe of your favourite Disney movies

Let’s start off with a recap of what we covered last time. We know that the movies Hercules, The Little Mermaid, Frozen, Tangled and Cinderella are all connected through each other. Hercules and Ariel are cousins and Elsa and Rapunzel are lost twin sisters. King Agnarr and Queen Iduna’s sunken ship is the one we see Ariel looting through at the beginning of her movie, and the King plus the Grand Duke from Cinderella are in the wedding scene of Ursula and Prince Eric. Also adding as an addition to the Hercules and Ariel are cousins theory, I would like to point out that Ariel's mother's name was Athena, the name of the greek goddess of wisdom, battle strategy and war, further proving the theory that Hercules and Ariel are related through greek mythology.

All caught up? Good, because we’re going to start making connections between these 5 movies and some other disney classics.

If you’ve watched Frozen, you're familiar with Sven, the reindeer and accomplice of Kristoff. Well, there is a split second reference to this character in the movie Moana. In the scene from Moana where Maui grabs his hook from the shiny treasures of Tamatoa's shell, in the process of trying to transform into a giant hawk, it kind of um.. malfunctions you could say. He transitions between many different creatures before coming back into his original form. Now if you look very closely, for a split second Maui turns into a reindeer, which very closely resembles Sven from Frozen.

Using this information, we know can add moana to the lineup of movies we’ve covered.

There is another movie we can link to moana: Aladdin. In the same scene, the one with the um weird singing crab creature, almost invisible among the other golden treasures, there is a single lamp. Catch on yet? The lamp has an uncanny resemblance to the genie's lamp in Aladdin. From this, we can tell what exactly happened to the lamp after the events of Aladdin; it found its way onto the shell of Tamatoa.

There is one more link i’m going to look at today, and that is a connection between Hercules and The Lion King. It was mentioned very briefly in the first part of this theory, but the animal head good ol’ herc is wearing while posing for the pottery painter is in fact, scar. We know that scar dies in The Lion King, so it is likely that someone could have come and taken scars body, delivering it to greece, finding its way into the hands of hercules. This fact adds the lion king to the lineup of connected disney movies.

So what do we now know about related disney movies? Here's a helpful diagram to help visualise. Yes, it looks a little like a food web, but that's because science is cool OKAY! Except, it’s a food web for disney characters, but food webs are supposed to represent what animals eat other animals, so this photo is really representing what disney movies devour other movies…..Okay here's the picture:

So there you have it ladies and gentleman. All of your of your favourite Disney movies connect to each other in one giant universe.
