If the whole nine tailed fox is based off a kitsune, which is a nine tailed fox, then you should've had 1 tail when you were a child.
At year 1,000 is when a kitsune has all 9 tails
But I can be wrong-

It's okay! It's your character so the kitsune logic doesn't always need to happen.
I wanted to mention it because this happens a ton and bothers me a bit every time.
