Amino Update & AI set PSA | AC will no longer be used to buy A+ | [Updated 03/10/25] |

Hello everyone, I'm Tarotkinq. As said in my previous post about the update, I'm here to provide an update on the official released statement from Team Amino that goes into further explanation about their decision to remove Amino Coins as an option to subscribe to their monthly A+ hip.

If you haven't heard about this before, or you don't know what A+ or Amino Coins are, all of those are explained in the post linked above, which you can check out at any time.

As I mentioned in that post, we wouldn't have more information until February 12, 2025 (today), and Team Amino has released the extra information they said they would provide on this date about their decision.

I will also discuss the use/creation of an AI chat bubble and profile frame in this post.

I will post the screenshots and also a transcript of everything the images say below. There will also be a TLDR at the end of the post.

Let's expand on our previous announcement and discuss the recent app update, what it means for you, and address common questions, comments, or concerns.

First, we want to acknowledge that our recent change to Amino+ subscription payments, which now requires cash transactions instead of the previous option to pay with Amino coins, has raised concerns among many of our s. We've carefully read your and understand that this decision may not align with everyone's preferences.

While we remain committed to listening to your concerns and exploring potential solutions to enhance the experience for all s, please know that we are making this decision with the best interests of the app and the community in mind. This change is part of a larger effort to revitalize and enhance the Amino experience, ensuring that you, our s, can be part of an app that continues to grow and thrive.

As we introduce new ideas and initiatives, some will be well-received, while others may fall short of expectations. For example, we're aware that the recent addition of the frame and bubble to the Amino store has generated criticism from many s, and we recognize and appreciate this . We're continuously learning and considering all input to improve the experience for everyone.

Despite the and concerns, we are moving forward with the change: as of today, Amino+ can no longer be purchased with Amino coins.

Let's go over some of the most common questions and concerns about this change.

Why are we making this change?

We're making this change to improve the overall experience and ensure the long-term sustainability of the app.

Shouldn't we prioritize fixing bugs and technical issues?

Our Development Team is committed to resolving bugs and technical issues, and we've already made progress in addressing many of them. Please understand that some solutions take time, and we remain focused on making improvements. App stabilization is a top priority, and enhancing the app economy plays a crucial role in this ongoing effort.

What does this change mean for Amino coins?

Amino coins are here to stay. You'll still be able to use them to shop for items in the Amino Store or your favorite creators. While the way you access Amino+ is changing, Amino Coins will remain an essential part of the platform, and we're actively working on ways to add even more value to them.

Are we adding new features to Amino+?

We're continuously exploring new features for Amino+ to provide even more benefits to our s. While we're still evaluating the best options, our focus is on improving the overall experience and ensuring that Amino+ continues to meet the growing needs of our community.

Are we developing any new features that will be available for free?

We're assessing which features, both new and existing, are best for free access or Amino+, and we'll keep you updated as things progress.

Looking ahead, we know these changes might be frustrating, and we appreciate your patience as we address any issues that may arise as a result. While we recognize the challenges, our focus is on improving the overall experience for Amino s and ensuring that the decisions we make are in the best interest of the community.

Now, onto another issue with Team Amino. As many of you know, AI 'art' has unfortunately become very prominent these days, and this community and several others have even banned it or don't allow it because of how harmful it is to the community (it's also not good for the environment).

As some of you may have noticed, there was recently a chat bubble and a profile frame posted in the official shop. The bubble was 1,000 Amino Coins, and the frame is a 500/month Amino Coin subscription.

(The frame is actually 1,000/month, but if you currently have A+, it's discounted to 500.)

Unfortunately, even though Team Amino also doesn't allow AI in their event, or for s to use AI to create chat bubbles/profile frames for events, they have used AI to create the Valentines day set in the shop.

While s are 100% certain that the profile frame is AI made, we're all relatively unsure if the chat bubble was made using AI. Though it's safe to assume so since these items are part of a set.

It is also believed that the bubbles for both of these sets are AI made as well.

Inconsistencies like one of the clovers being malformed, and on the Valentine's set, the ribbon wrapped around the heart is messed up, as is one of the bows.

If you have already bought the set, there is unfortunately no way to technically 'delete' it or refund it. However, you can simply not use the bubble, and you can cancel the subscription for the frame at any time.

To cancel a frame subscription, go to your profile and click where your coins are, essentially like you're going to buy a+ subscription. Then, you should see a button that says "Subscriptions."

Once you click on that, you should see the Valentines Day frame there, and clicking on it it should bring up the option to cancel the subscription. And then once it "expires," you technically won't own the frame anymore.

So... what does all of this mean, basically?

Team amino isn't changing their minds about making A+ a money only subscription, so going forward, you will no longer be able to purchase A+ with Amino Coins.

Amino coins are NOT leaving, they will still be here and can be used, just not to purchase A+. Team Amino is currently looking at and developing 'more ways to add even more value to them (Amino Coins).'

They believe that doing this will "enhance the app economy" and that that is a crucial part to fixing the app and all of its issues. They assure in their post that they're actively and consistently working on trying to fix the app and it's bugs because app stabilization is their ’ top priority. ‘

They are 'looking at options' of features to add to A+ so that it caters to the growing needs of the community. They are also assessing what features, both new and old, will be available for free or only available with A+.

(Hopefully this means that videos, and maybe higher res images, will at least become free features. Unfortunately, I sincerely doubt that stickers will become a free option, but it would be a wonderful scenario if they were.)

Unfortunately, their only response to using AI to create a chat bubble and profile frame was this (excerpt from the post I showed above):

They don't really acknowledge that the issue is that they used AI, they only vaguely state that it "generated criticism from many s," so it's very unfortunate to see that they don't acknowledge and address what that criticism was. Hopefully they stay true to their word of 'learning' from this and will not use AI to create sets going forward.

Unfortunately, it looks like this was a rather disappointing and lackluster update on their previous announcement. There are things I personally wish Team Amino would do differently and take into consideration, but they seem to have doubled down on their stance.
