What Other Way Is There To Play Conqueror?

As Conqueror I find myself to a limited moveset, Conqueror does have a few moves that could confuse the enemy player if used correctly such as heavy and light feints and shield bash mixups that you can use to eventually punish your opponent.

But recently I got out of a duel with another player on Ps4 that claimed there is lack of skill in playing Conqueror that apparently "turtles" or plays Defense to an Offensive based character. Which in my opinion it is just playing defense because Conqueror is a "Strong Defense" character which benefits the characters' playstyle the most. They also claimed that I only won because of the defensive meta. Now its not like I just refuse to ultimately throw attacks, but most of my attack "chains" or mixups benefit from playing defense.

Personally, in general and ever since the nerf, I really think it is difficult playing Conqueror in his current state.

So I had trouble understanding what other way I could play Conqueror that could punish my opponent even though the defense meta shouldn't effect how the Conqueror plays. So I wanted to ask, What is your opinion on the Conqueror himself? Do you have any advanced tips for Conqueror and or if i should change to a different beneficial playstyle?
