“Benched” — A Short Story

I’m just trying out a new format, and trying to do something before the new TT comes out. I’m not very good at writing. I draw, not write :P

Cold.

That was all that Fae could feel when she slipped through her summoner’s hands. She had fallen to another Falchion. She was never able to feel anything, everything would always fade to black when her summoner had made a silly misplay. This time, she could feel the sword piercing through her feathers. She could taste the blood, it was almost sickening, but she had to fight on. She would come back next fight, and she be able take someone down. The feeling of uselessness hurt her the most.

But she never got the chance to prove herself. Put on the bench once again. She always would hate the day that she would have to sit in the barracks again, waiting until she would be found useful again.

Since Kiran had collected 20 orbs, he went to the summoning circle once again. Where he and Fae had first met. Where they would start their friendship. He had even S-ed her! A year later, Fae was benched. She rarely saw the light of the battlefield. It was so cold, and she never was able to see any other Faes that would be by her side. Today, Kiran pulled another Fae, and for a split second, Fae had felt a sliver of the happiness she used to feel.

Kiran’s face was one of disgust. And within seconds, Fae’s only friend was torn away from her. What was left of her were only the words:

Skill Up!

Her clone was gone. Fae had never felt so alone, she had never felt so empty. It was a rarity to see Kiran summon, but when he did, he almost never would pull green, or even another Fae.

Kiran looked so happy now. Fae had watched him move on from her, S-ing another of his dragons, Myrrh, her replacement. The better green dragon.

“Your Barracks are full, Kiran!” Feh chirped from her stand in the corner of the castle.

”Ah, I guess so, I use everyone, who could I send home?” Kiran looked over everyone, it did seem a little crowded to him, “I guess I’ll send home a few people that I don’t think are that useful anymore.”

A light. Fae would see a light shining from above, something she hadn’t seen for a while.

Fae called into the light, deperate, “Kiran! Kiran! I missed you so much! I’m sorry I didn’t try hard enough, I’ll do bet-“
