Skills: Layla excels in positions of power. Her ability to lead others made her well respected within the military. She’s had basic training with firearms and hand to hand combat but as she is an Officer she mainly operates off the battlefield.

Background:

Native to Sarapentis but born on Tera Con Prime. Layla had a tuff up bringing being born in to a poor family. The struggles she faced as a child made her the brave strategic genius she is today.

When the Lord Commander overthrew Tera Con Prime’s tyrannical leadership people rejoiced in hope for a freer and brighter future for the station.

People were eager to praise him and his cause. Layla ed the military in the early years of the Lord Commander’s rain. Her strengths in leadership and planning got her pushed up the ranks to the position of Commanding Officer. Assigned to oversee the Operations of select companies. She answered only to Avocato and the Lord Commander himself. The company she was assigned to oversee was Kennith’s team.

During the invasion of countless systems Kennith and Layla had conflicting opinions on strategies. She thought he was reckless but brave. For as many times as she would order him to retreat he would just keep on fighting. He most often found a way to win or at least keep his team alive. It’s because of this that his team respected him so. Not one man ever fell under his command. They trusted him and he treated them like brothers in arms. As much as Layla wanted to hate him for disobeying her orders she couldn’t help but ire him. She had finally met her match. Someone that could defy her predictions in combat and make any plan fool proof. She came to trust him in his capabilities and their flirtatious banter over the radio during combat brought the two of them closer together.

Kennith’s success in battle got him and his team working side by side with Avocato. At first Avocato was appalled by Layla and Kennith’s attitude towards protocol but as he fought along side them in battle he came to respect their dynamic as a strong team. Their friendship quickly developed.

Avocato never mentioned his previous partner but was always sentimental regarding his newly born son. Being second in command had many perks such as servants to care for his child but he took every opportunity to return home and see him when he could. During shore leave Kennith, Avocato and Layla hung out together and visited each other often.

Layla soon fell pregnant with Kennith as the father. Avocato gave him some lessons in fatherhood by letting him take care of Lil Cato when Avocato was away. Layla was denied time away from work by the Commander and Kennith was furious. Avocato was sympathetic towards their predicament and tried to persuade the Commander to change his mind but this only made things worse.

Layla and Kennith were sent back in to battle. And during the occupation of a civilian colony Avocato ed order’s down from the Lord Commander for Kennith’s team to execute all civilians including children. Layla was hesitant to relay these orders to Kennith but she complied. Kennith refused. Avocato’s loyalty to the Commander blinded him to basic morals. He overruled Kennith’s Command and ordered his team to open fire. Kennith felt betrayed. Not only by Avocato and the Commander but by his own team who where to cowardly to disobey. It was a Massacre. Layla was the only one that defended Kennith’s insubordination. Kennith’s team still followed him but his trust in them was shaken. Layla and Kennith’s friendship with Avocato began to wear away.

Not long after, Layla went in to labor and gave birth to two little girls. Layla planned to leave the military with Kennith and run off for a better life together away from their past, where the children would be safe but it was too late. Kennith had his team escort them to safety but they were ambushed and the Lord Commander captured them. Kennith’s men were executed in front of him and Layla along with her children were imprisoned. She heard that Kennith had escaped but that was all she new. They soon separated her from her children and she was left alone crying in her cell.

Avocato was unaware of Layla’s imprisonment until Kennith came running for his help. Avocato was shocked. He didn’t believe him and threw Kennith out. Avocato still cared about them so he didn’t rat him out incase what he said was true and instead let Kennith run with the promise he would never return.

Layla’s current whereabouts were unknown until now.

FS Comic 19

Gets captured by the Lord Commander with Avocato, lil Cato, fox and Ash. Recalls the Great War. Surprised that Avocato was the one who ended it. Feels betrayed. Feeling like he never really knew his best friend. Having searched through a prison transfer pad that he stole when they went back in time, he discovers that Layla was used as a sacrifice to Invictus during The commanders first attempt at reaching final space. The Commander reveals that she is here alive and under Invictus’s control.

FS Comic 20

Kennith is forced to fight her. He tries desperately to free her but Invictus’s manipulation is too strong. He chose to help Gary save Ash as Invictus takes Fox. The only chance he has left of saving Layla rests with Ash and her powers.

FS Comic 21

Kennith fights with every ounce of strength he has to brake free of avocato as he holds him back. Ash dives in to the black hole and HUE light folds the ship. Kennith drops to the floor losing all hope.

FS Comic 22

Kennith snaps yelling at everyone to go back but Gary is more concerned with Quin. Kennith yells he doesn’t care then immediately regrets it apologising and hanging his head. Sheryl claims Ash might already be dead but before she could finish the sentence Kennith pulls a gun on her daring her to say it. His hand shakes and he lowers the gun dropping to the floor in a heap. Sheryl kneels down to comfort him.

When the team devise a plan to save Quin Kennith volunteers to go on the asteroid showing he’s sorry for the way he acted and wants to help. Sheryl says no saying he’s to emotional right now but she will need his help piloting the ship while the Cato’s go instead.

After saving Quin Ash returns and Lil Cato yells “Kennith!” As he sees her sitting in her room.

FS Comic 23

Kennith makes Ash something to eat then hears Lil Cato chatting to the others outside the door. He goes out and sees Avocato gun in hand.

“Put those away!” Kennith yells.

“Is she a threat?” Says Avocato.

“No she’s not a threat. Are you insane?” He replied.

“Dude she flew in to a black hole that leads to Invictus!” Says Gary.

“She’s my daughter. I trust her.” Said Kennith.

“So how is she?” Avocato asks as he puts away his guns. Kennith looks at the door.

“She’s changed a little.” He said.

“How exactly?” Questioned Gary.

“She’s, all grown up.” Stated Kennith.

FS Comic 24

Kennith would see Ash with Fox and jumped down with Gary to save her. As Gary and Fox fight Kennith goes to help Ash to her feet. Fox gets stabbed and falls dead. Kennith runs over to his corpse.

“No, No, No stay with us.” He yells.

Invictus’s power consumes Foxes body forcing Kennith to step back.

Bolo pulls them all from his mind now free of invictus’s corruption.

FS Comic 25

Ash runs off Kennith doesn’t even try to stop her this time. At the funeral Kennith records Lil cato’s speech. He locks himself in his room. Quin asks Avocato to talk to Gary while she tries to talk to Kennith. She tries multiple times to talk him in to letting her in but she doesn’t get a response. She breaks in just before he tries to blow his brains out. She kicks the gun out of his hand.

“What are you doing?!” She cries.

Kennith downs the bottle of booze he had in his other hand. Having lost all hope of saving his family. Ash was his last hope. One round in the cartridge of his revolver made it clear he was playing Russian rulet.  

He had the video of Lil Cato’s speech open on the side. Quin sees it.

“Are you going to show that to Ash when she comes back?” She asks.

“She’s not coming back.” He replied coldly.

“You don’t believe that. If you did, you wouldn’t have recorded that for her. A part of you is still fighting. Hold on to hope. Never let it go. She’ll come back. I know she will.”

After ash returned and forgave Gary she found Kenniths photo of him Layla and Avocato on the floor. Kennith would look up from his bed where he sat to see Ash walk in.

“You look like hell.” she stated.

He smiled as he stood up. “You came back.”

“Of course I did. I couldn’t leave my old man to die out here.” She pulled the photo out of her pocket. “You must have dropped this.”

He looked at the photo a tear forming in his eye.

“What was she like, I mean mom specifically?” Asked Ash.

“She was just like you. You remind me of her more and more each day. Hey I have something for you too.” He pulls up the recording. Lil Cato had a few things he wanted to say at the funeral. I thought you’d want to hear it?”

She takes the recording but puts it away. “I’ll watch it later. Thanks.” She says with a smile.

FS Comic 26

Kennith and Ash were never planning on leaving. Not until the rescued Layla from Invictus. They would help the others activate the bridge in London. The Lord Commander shows up and begins drilling to the Earths core. Avocato goes after him. Kennith shouts. “Avocato Wait!”

Avocato stops and looks back. “You coming?”

Kennith loads his rifle. “Of course I am.”

Avocato and Kennith Prepare the canon to fire the bomb at the Lord Commander but his sides the targeting computer short circuits while the Lord Commander monologues. Kennith brakes the scope off his rifle and plants it on top of the canon leaving him no choice but to eyeball it. While Avocato pulls the trigger.

FS Comic 27

Kennith helps repair the Ship. When the ship is attacked by zombies Kennith goes with Sheryl to find Ash. A possessed Layla leads the attack under Invictus’s control. She speaks to Ash alone until Invictus frees Layla as a gift to Ash claiming he can protect your family and that Gary will only get them killed. Sheryl gets pinned down by a zombie, her gun thrown across the hall. Kennith shoots the zombie off of her and kicks her gun back over to her to finish it off. When they find Ash and Layla Kennith is hesitant but Layla brakes down in tears. He realises it’s really her and they rap their arms in each other’s embrace.

They regroup with the others on the bridge.

FS Comic 28

Ash feels distant from her mother having never really met her and Kennith failed to realise she felt like she didn’t belong. While Layla and Kennith spent time together Ash learned the truth behind Avocato and ran off with Lil Cato to Invictus.

FS Comic 29

Gary, Avocato and Kennith take the Dragonhawk V to save Lil Cato.

“Ash, I’m sorry we failed you” said Gary. Kennith pushed forward as Ash forced them back. “Stay back!” She shouts.

“I’m not afraid of you Ash. I’d rather die by your hands than loose you again.” He says throwing the blade of his rifle in to the ground and leaving it as he forced his way up to her.

“Stop!” She shouts afraid of the thought of killing her father.

“Ash we finally have a chance to put the past behind us. Don’t throw it away. We can finally be a real family.” He pleaded.

Her expression turned sad before smiling sinisterly once more. She stopped forcing them away.

“Yes, we can.” She says before blasting Kennith with Invictus’s power. He became possessed and turned back to face Gary and Avocato grabbing the rifle from the ground. Ash hovered above them. “You live by the sword, you die by me!”
