With the global version of DFFOO already having reached over 30 characters and Japan just recently entering the 90+ area one could wonder how many characters Square could keep on adding to the game in the future. While thinking about this I came up with 10 characters I would definitely love to use in Opera Omnia and how realistic it would be to add them, including some moveset ideas.
Minwu

This is probably not the first character people think of when they're asked which male character is missing in Opera Omnia. But to me the answer is clearly Minwu. He's easily one of the, if not the most underrated male FF character, which to be fair is partially due to the reputation of FFII. But Minwu has always been my favorite FFII character along with Firion. His design was one of the most memorable out of the classic I-III games and I also really enjoyed his personality. He's not really talkative, but not to the point it gets uncomfortable like it sometimes did with, let's say, Cloud for example. What would really interest me is his combat style, if he were to be added. Since we didn't get to see a lot in the main game I could imagine them experimenting around with his skills as a mage, perhaps something like a red or blue mage, because it wouldn't feel right to sort Minwu into exclusively black or white magic. Besides from a potentially interesting moveset there's also just 4 characters out of the I-III games, so more representation for the classics would be much needed.
Rikku

My favorite thief in the FF series, alongside Zidane. With Yuffie already being an early story character and unfortunately also a low-tier thief, Rikku could be added as sort of an improved version of her. Since most FFX characters besides from Yuna and Tidus are also mid- to low-tier it would be nice if they gave her more of a unique skillset that would rank her a bit higher, with a focus on her steal and mix ability from the main game. Her abilities could serve both as and debuff, which would put her into a similar position as Lilisette, though as I said, I would really like it if they focused on her job as a thief, since they pretty much neglected it with Zidane and poorly executed it with Yuffie.
Rinoa

We got Aerith. We got Garnet. Yuna was there since the very beginning. So all I'm asking myself is: Where is Rinoa? By now we got pretty much all of FFVIII's playable characters, besides from Rinoa. Considering how long it's been since Square started adding FFVIII characters it wouldn't surprise me if Square would release Ultimecia before her. If they just need some time to think of a playstyle for her that's not too similar to any of the other female characters then I'd understand that and I really hope that's the case, but so far there haven't been any news regarding Rinoa. However, I'm certain they'll add her in the future, since it would be very out of place and noticable to have all playable FFVIII characters along with the antagonists, but not the deuteragonist.
Basch

I have two main reasons why I'd want to add Basch to this game. One is that there are clearly not enough playable FFXII characters compared to other games from the series. The other is that the most recent melee attackers have all been low-tier characters, Auron and Cyan being the best examples. The moveset designs for these characters have unfortunately been lacking and are easily outclassed by newer and older characters alike. With the right abilities Basch could bring new life to that category, until Square decides to make Vayne playable at least. If Vayne were to become a playable character he would probably get a similar moveset to the one in AC/NT, which would be hard to sur by other melee characters. But there's always the possibility of giving melee attackers additional defensive or ive abilities that could rank them higher, which could be included in Basch's design as an improvement.
Beatrix

I feel like this pick is quite self-explanatory. Beatrix is one of the most beloved female side-characters and especially most FFIX fans have a special place for her character in their hearts. The main reason I want Beatrix to be added however is that this game needs more offensive female characters. Like, we got Lightning, Alisaie, Maria, Ashe, and... well that's it. At least out of the top- to mid-tier ones. Of course other characters can do a fair amount of damage as well, but they mostly serve the role of a . Beatrix would be a nice addition to the short range, physical attacker category in my opinion. Of course she could also have a few buff abilities, to stay true to her original combat. I just wish Square could create more female characters that don't end up at C rank or lower right away.
Fran

Speaking of more female characters that should be on the offensive, Fran could serve as an addition to the long distance, physical attacker category. My reasons for adding her would be similar to those for Beatrix and Basch, being that there are not enough good female attackers and FFXII characters. Though I could imagine Square having a hard time with deg her as anything beyond mid-tier. They'd have to get a bit more creative with Fran, since her moveset from the main game reminds me a bit of that of Maria. But even so it would be interesting to add her simply for her design.
Caius

FFXIII-2 fans rejoice, I didn't leave you out simply because I haven't played this game yet. I know how much a lot of people want Caius to be added to Dissidia AC/NT alone, so there's no need to leave him out of this game either. I've also seen some boss fights against him and I could definitely imagine that Square could do a lot with his abilities in Opera Omnia as well. In addition, the amount of playable antagonists is still fairly small, so Caius could be used to increase the number, since some antagonists like Ultimecia, Vayne, Exdeath and Garland still aren't playable. I see a lot of potential for this character in both games and it really would be a shame if Square wouldn't include him.
Barret

If the fact that Barret is the only playable FFVII character besides from Red XIII yet to be added in Opera Omnia doesn't justify his spot on this list then allow me to continue. Barret is clearly a fan-favorite and I can imagine that most FFVII fans are already waiting for Square to add him to this game. I can see why they're taking so long however, it must be difficult to think of a playstyle that isn't too similar to Laguna, Irvine, Sazh, King, or Vincent. If that's the reason why he hasn't been announced yet I hope they take their time with him and come up with something fun until then.
Freya

In Freya's case I could also use the female attacker argument, but I have another one, that is much more important. This game only has 2 dragoons. First of all, how can Square neglect one of the most beloved job classes in the series just like that? Second, that alone would be a reason to add Freya. Of course they could also add Aranea and/or Ricard, to get all the Highwinds together, but as I mentioned with Fran I would like Square to add more party of other races. And like most characters in this list she's just beloved by fans of the respective game. Adding her would do no harm.
Ravus

No, I did not forget XV. And yes, I didn't choose anyone from the main party or Ardyn, what a surprise. As one of my favorite characters from FFXV, I would definitely want to see Ravus make it in Opera Omnia. Not only because I think a lot of people simply forgot about him due to his lack of screentime, but also because I believe that his combat would be very enjoyable. There's a lot of ideas they could adapt from Episode Ignis that could easily make him one of the best swordfighters in the game. However, I also wouldn't want Square to exaggerate his abilities, since it would make them seem too biased towards XV, with Noctis already being a top-tier character right after release. I know it's more likely that they add characters like Aranea, Ignis, or even Ardyn, but I see a lot more possibilities for fun combat with Ravus.
And that concludes my list. While making this I realized that even with 90 characters already in the game there were so many possibilities I had to leave out. If there's a character I didn't mention and you'd want to see in Opera Omnia, I'd be interested to hear about it.
