Happy new year

Pippin scratched his head. "What do you mean 'new year resolutions'?"

Merry sighed. "You know every time a year ends and a new year begins, like today, people think about what they want to change about their lives and attitudes in the coming year."

Whispering he added: "Though most times they forget about it after a month or so"

Pippin snickered."That sounds unnecessary." He took a sip of his drink and turned to watch the fireworks. "Come ooon" Merry threw some snow at his friend. Pip grinned "Fine! Okay. But you go first" "Fantastic" Merry cleared the snow off his hands. "Hmmm. My New year resolution is that..." he scratched his head

"I will try to stop stealing food from Farmer Maggot." Pippin looked shocked. "Why would you want that?" More to convince himself than his cousin, Merry answered "well it's not the right thing to do. We can buy food... also it would hurt less." He rubbed his arm where one of the Farmer's dogs had bitten him a few weeks ago. "That's probably true" Pippin too had some scars from their many trips to the crops. "Now it's your turn" The golden haired hobbit took his cup and leaned back.

"Alright." Pippin grinned. "My new year resolution is not to do this again." Merry looked at him confused. "What do you mean?"

"This!" With those words Pippin threw the snowball he had been forming this whole time directly into his cousin's face.
