Backstory
•In the village of Augusta, there's a legend about evil spirits stealing babies and replacing them with strange creatures that transform and eat their parents. Morthain was born in this village to two farmers, but he seemed to have something off about him. He was unnaturally intelligent since he was incredibly young, and the people of Augusta said that he had a strange and unreadable gaze that struck fear into them. Morthain also seemed to have an incredible proficiency when it came to the art of illusion magic, and it only grew as time went on. At first, he could cast minor illusions and simply change the appearance of things, but as time went on, he could change much more than this. More than that, Morthain could manipulate his own appearance and change it. At first, he could simply take on others' appearances, but he grew to be able to use the physical power of the forms he took on. He couldn't use magical abilities or things along those lines, but he could for example transform into a kraken and strangle his enemies with various tentacles. Besides that, his pure physical strength and regenerative ability were both very high. Eventually, the people in Augusta who deeply feared Morthain started to have a new view on things. He wasn't some strange creature; he was a talented master. They started to worship him and built a small wooden temple. This small start in the small town of Augusta expanded rapidly, though, as more and more people ed Morthains cause. The people had never realized it before, but the current king was a fool while Morthain was powerful and charismatic. There were various dangers, and surely a strong warrior like Morthain would be much better suited to lead them to victory. Eventually, even the most loyal allies of the king slowly started to crumble and hands with The Augustian Rebellion. Morthain would eventually become the new king and formed The Kingdom of Augusta. Religion was abolished, and the new foundation was worship of their Benevolent Master. Slowly yet surely, people outside the borders of Morthain's kingdom started to rebel against their own kingdoms because of their desire to serve a superior kingdom. Everyone within Augusta was filled with joy and absolute loyalty to their king. The neighboring kingdoms rallied in war against Morthain, but they found that their own soldiers switched sides in the middle of battle and entered an enraged state. Morthain grew increasingly dangerous, and it seemed as if he was nearly unstoppable. A young wood elf named Elysir was from a kingdom ravaged and dominated by Morthain and his forces. He'd managed to resist the desire to serve under Morthain through some sort of innate resistance. Elysir sought out The Forbidden God Melzak and made a deal with him. Elysir sold his emotions as well as his soul to the god in exchange for the power to defeat Morthain.
•Melzak granted powerful forbidden magic to Elysir and granted him the ability to control an army of corrupted wood spirits that would face off against Morthains thralls. Elysir and his servants, created through forbidden magic, were immune to even the mighty illusion magic of Morthain. The army of Augusta clashed with the corrupted wood spirits. Both sides bodies piled up, and eventually, Elysir managed to make his way to Luthirion, the capital of Augusta. He'd arrive before Morthain and challenged him to a duel. They'd initially clash, but suddenly Elysir found himself in bed several years back at his mothers side. She smiled at him just like she always had, and she was cooking her signature stew. She prepared a bowl and approached him with it, claiming that she'd made it even better than usual. Elysir looked with sorrow at her before stabbing her in the gut with his arm, which became encased in forbidden energy that formed a jagged spike. The illusion was shattered as he stabbed Morthain in the stomach. His blessing greatly weakened the effects of Morthain's illusion magic, and Elysirs natural resistances against it helped too. Morthain started to regenerate, but he couldn't quite fully regenerate his wound because of the nature of the forbidden magic utilized by Elysir. Morthain immediately transformed, and several tentacles formed from his entire body and attacked Elysir. Elysir managed to cleave through them, but hands formed from the tentacles, which afterward transformed into mouths that dug into the wood elves' flesh. He'd managed to counter and slam Morthain a good distance away, though. The battle continued with Morthain, eventually taking on the appearance of Elysirs father to try and make him waver before unleashing a final attack. The two clashed, and Elysir dug into Morthain's throat. In his last moments, Morthain transformed into a horrific abomination and devoured Elysir, though, which resulted in both of their deaths. The people of Augusta were freed from the control placed on their minds, and the kingdom soon fell apart. Elysir had his soul delivered to Melzak while Morthain found his soul in The Dark Realm under the command of The Dark God known as Demigros.
