Today, as usual, I'm writing my Charms homework, so have fun reading it!

Accio(AH-kee-oh), also known as the Summoning Charm, is a charm that summons objects,as well as things that aren't in the view, towards the caster.

In order to successfully perform this spell, you must think clearly of the object you want to summon before you cast the spell.

Accio is one of the oldest spell known to wizard kind.

According to Miranda Goshwak, the most famous of Accio was a wizard named Gideon Flatworthy.

Another notable was a son of the wizard that had a hopping pot from "The Wizard and the Hopping Pot" who casted the Summoning charm to find a lost donkey of his fellow villager.

An important fact is that Accio CANNOT be used on the buildings nor on the living things, with an exception of Flobberworms, who I think aren't even worth summoning.

Seriously guys, don't ever try to summon a person, cause in case you haven't noticed, when you summon a thing, they fly at great speed towards you.

You get a point? No? Then let me explain it simply to you:

A person CAN be gravely injured if you dared to summon them because they'll travel at close to the speed of light.

Naturally, counter-spells exist.

They after all are made to keep valuable objects from being summoned.

That's why witches and wizards invented Anti-teft charm to keep objects from being Summoned by anyone but their rightful owners.

⚜ETYMOLOGY⚜

Accio is a Latin word that means "I call", "I summon" or "action".

In Hungarian, this spell is called "invito" which could possibly come from the word "to invite".

I wouldn't know, seeing as I don't know Hungarian language.
