“I told you, vampires aren’t real,” Baekhyun reminded Chanyeol. He ed him a key with a roll of his eyes. “Even if they were, they would lose.”
Chanyeol looked alarmed by the fact that werewolves were real but not vampires. It was pretty strange how that worked; one certainly seemed more likely than the other. There weren’t nearly as many real ‘fictional’ creatures around as one might think.
“So...no vampires? Are you sure?”
“Yes.”
Chanyeol nodded despite the disappointment on his face. He ran a hand through his hair, shaking his head. “This really doesn’t make any sense.”
“Tell me about it,” Baekhyun sighed. “You ever try explaining something so convoluted to another person? Believe me, I know.”
They walked past an abandoned store front, an eerie chill working its way down Baekhyun’s spine. It was almost like eyes were peering at him through the cracked, dusty window. He picked up his pace while Chanyeol easily kept up with.
Maybe if we take that short cut...
He crossed the street, motioning for Chanyeol to follow him. There was a small, narrow alley between a cafe and a bank; it was the easiest way to get back downtown quickly. There was worry written all over Chanyeol’s face. He had a very good reason to be wary of confines, narrow spaces. Last time he came out worse for wear.
“Come on, we’ll be safe down this way.” Baekhyun hoped he sounded more confident than he felt. This was no time for Chanyeol to get panicky. He ducked into the dingy alley praying Chanyeol was following him.
The further down the alley they went, the longer it seemed to actually be. It was empty, save for a few garbage cans dotting the narrow space. Every hair on Baekhyun’s neck stood on end- a feeling he couldn’t stand. Behind him Chanyeol was nearly walking on top of him as he all but cling to his back.
This isn’t right. It doesn’t feel right at all.
It seemed like an eternity had ed before they reached the end of the alley. He turned left down another alley before making a sharp right down a completely different one. More unease prickled at his skin as he scanned the immediate area.
“What the hell is that smell,” Chanyeol whispered, gagging from somewhere close behind. He covered his nose and mouth with his hands, his eyes watering slightly. Baekhyun took a deep breath and instantly cringed. This was bad.
“Let’s go,” he urged, breaking into a run. Chanyeol clearly understood why as he took off after him. They took another right followed by a left. The smell grew stronger the more they moved. As they rounded another corner, Baekhyun froze. Chanyeol crashed into him, causing him to stumble forward.
Four figures stood blocking their way. He turned to take off in the other direction but an additional two had appeared behind them. One of them grinned.
“It’s nice to see you again, Baekhyun. And I see you found yourself a little friend.”
