Today is a very, very special day. It is my dearest Millie's birthday and one of my favourite things to do is showering her in my endless love and appreciation. I did that mostly in private but I want to share with you guys the little fanart I made for her. As you maybe know, Millie is a massive Jongdae stan and no one can blame her because...How can someone not absolutely love that man? His latest album release made the both of us very excited, most of all because of the stunning visual concept that they went for. The slightly darker, very aesthetic approach with artsy elements. That is why I decided to recreate the stunning cover, so that Millie can hang it up somewhere or just hug it closely to her heart until her actual albums arrive ^^

Originally, I had planned to merge the cover with Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” because Millie and I had talked about how a lot of the visuals reminded us of Van Gogh’s work, especially that cover. But after trying to work it out a few times in my sketchbook, I didn’t really come to a satisfactory solution to merge them. That is why I had to scratch that idea and decided to just plainly repaint the cover. I hope you like it nonetheless, especially you Millie :kiss:

I enjoyed myself very much painting on wood again. It feels so differently than drawing with pencils on paper and of course I still need to figure out a lot of different things with it but I like it more and more :) And I can only recommend it because it is so much fun just squishing around with the colours. If drawing or painting is something you feel like trying out but you are too scared of failure, then recreating Chen’s album covers, the current and the first ones, could be a wonderful starting point. Of course, there is no “failure” in creating art, that I have to tell you as well. You can achieve skills through practice but making art is not defined by skills. It is defined through wonder and expression and feelings. So take a brush or scissors or pencils or your fingers and express yourself however you want.

Millie inspires me to create all kinds of art all the time. I learn so much from her and her view on things, the way she sees the world and art fills me with iration and happiness. Please always give her lots of love. You will not regret it and get it back as well (because she is a really soft and sweet person).
