[EA Artists | Team Alítheia] Sub Unit Album Packaging

Hi There!

         Today I'm here with my blog for the

          monthly theme of the EA Artists :raised_hands:

         And as you can see from the title, our

          theme this month was Sub Unit :blush:

         So basically, we could piece together

          whatever sub unit we wanted to, and

         then make something related to that.

         So I thought that I would make some-

         thing for a dance based sub unit :grin: I

         feel like the category CBX really shine

         in is vocals, so it would be cool to have

          other units focusing on rap and dance.

         In this case I chose dance.

         So, who would be in this unit? 🤔 That

          would be Kai, Lay and Sehun. I do

          consider Baekhyun and Xiumin to be

          some of the top dancers as well, but

         since they're both in CBX, I'm not

         including them here... don't wanna

         stress anyone out by putting them in

         too many units *caughnctcaugh*

         I decided to call the unit "EXO KLS,

         simply because it would be the same

          kinda concept with the names as CBX.

          And as for the order of the letters, I just

          chose this cause I thought it was what

          sounded best 🤷‍♀

         But then, I had to decide on what to

         make, and that was much harder :see_no_evil:

         But in the end I came up with the idea

         of making an example of some album

          packaging :)

         I think it's so cool how some k-pop

          albums are packed in super creative

          ways, so I wanted to try and make some

          packaging in a style that i would love to

          see :blush:

         One of my favourite album packagings

         (at least from the albums I own) is

         Lay's Namanana album. So although

         my thingy is far from as beautiful and

          polished as his album, I did take some

          inspiration from it :ok_hand:

         So here is how it turned out:

         It might be kinda hard to figure out

         what's going on here :sweat_smile: But I hope

         you'll understand how the packaging

          works when I have explained how I

         made it :grin: (And yes, I know that

          "Spotlight" is a random and cheesy title,

          but I needed a title and it seemd to fit

         with the dance theme so yea :see_no_evil: )

         So here are the steps of how I made it:

    1.

         First, I measured on some very thick

          cardstock what I would need for the

         base of the album. Because I wanted to

          make it close with a magnet like

          Namanana, I cut out pieces for the top

          and bottom, spine and the part where the

          magnets would sit.

    2.

         Then I taped them together. I did this

          instead of just letting the paper that is

          gonna go around it hold it together,

          because the plastic tape would make it

          stronger. I also made sure to tape them

         a bit apart from each other so that they

          would be able to fold properly.

    3.

         I got some paper with a design on it

         that I liked and covered one side of

         it with the paper. On the back side (that

          you can see in the picture) which is

         gonna be the inside of the album, I put

         a piece of white paper on to cover up

         the edges from the design paper... but

         I forgot to take a picture of that :sweat_smile:

    4.

         Then I made the bases for 2 other

         boxes. One would be a bit smaller and

          have all 4 sides, while the other would

         be a bit bigger and but only have 3

         sides. This is because I wanted to

         place a box inside of the album, where

          you could slide the lid to the side in

         order to get into the box.

    5.

         I took the bigger one of them, and cut

          slits in 2 of the sides.

    6.

         It might not seem like much happened

          here, but I just covered the inside of it

          with white paper to give it a nicer finish.

    7.

         I then taped the corners together to

         make it into a box, and I covered the

          outside of the box in white paper as

         well. Whenever I put paper on this one,

         I made sure to cut away the parts over

         the slits so they wouldn't be covered.

    8.

         Now this box was done. And I did the

          same thing to the other box, just minus

          the slits. Then I drew a square inside of

          the box with the slits (which would be

         the lid).

    9.

         And I cut out the square :scream: This was

          super scary, ngl. But it was because

          something I found super cool about

         the Namanana album was the use of

         clear plastic. It was so cool that you

         could see the card thingy through the

          plastic, so I also put some clear plastic

          over this hole :)

    10.

         Then I poked some holes (or rather

          hammered some holes lol) in the

         smaller box, so I would be able to

         attach it to the sliding lid.

    11.

         I attached the lid by using some thin

         wire and putting it through the holes

         in the smaller box, then through the

         slit on the lid, and attaching a button

          there. That way, the button would stay

         the same place on the smaller box, but

          because of the slit, the lid would be

         able to slide back and forth :raised_hands:

    12.

         From this picture you can hopefully

         see how it can slide :grin: I envisioned

         that this box would hold the CD on the

          bottom and a photobook on top of that.

    13.

         Here, I attached the magnets so there

          were 2 on the inside of the box and

         2 on the little flap that would close the

          whole album.

    14.

         Then I thought it would be nice if the

          album also contained a little fun

          gimmicky thing, so I made this little

          square were you could pull at some

          arrows to reveal the member's faces.

         I kinda forgot to take pictures again

         here, but I hope that you can see from

         the picture what kind of shape I cut

         out :grin:

    15.

         Then I printed out some pictures of

         the , cut them out in little

         circles and attached them to pieces of

          cardstock that would be what you

         could pull.

    16.

         Then I put some clear plastic on the

           inside of it, and cut some slits to be

          able to fit the cardstock through.

    17.

         Then all there was left to do was to

         close up this contraption :ok_hand: This picture

          shows what it will look like before the

          arrows are pulled. When they are pulled,

          the 's faces will show up in the

          little circles. I attached this to the left

         side of the album.

    18.

         I cut out 2 little squares and wrote

         "EXO - KLS" on them, and attached 1 of

          them to the spine because it's nice to

         be able to tell what album it is from the

          spine :ok_hand: And also one on the inside

         of the spine... honestly that was just

          because my cat decided to step on it

         with her dirty paws and that left the

         white paper not so white anymore :sweat_smile:

         So I covered it up :joy:

    19.

         Here you can see the spine of the album.

    20.

         For the front of the album, I simply

         printed this out and stuck it on. I don't

          think it's the prettiest, but honestly, I

          focused more on creating the packaging

          itself, rather than the aesthetics.

         And then Bamm, finished!

         I still don't know if you can really see

         how I constructed it from these

         pictures, but I hope you get how stuff

         fits together :grin:

         The picture you can see is simply one

         that I printed out and put inside the

         box to illustrate how it would look if

         you could see the cover of a photobook

          through the plastic.

         I also made 3 photocards:

         They are just some of their IG photos,

         but I thought that they would look

         cute as photo cards.

         So that it for what I came up with this

          month. I'm sorry if this blog seems

          rushed, cause honestly, it has been

         such a hassle to finish this on time
