Two horses. Two barns. And only one me.

Hey EA!

╚═════════════. .★.╝

Today I'm here with a blog explaining a situation I have managed to find myself in. I swear, I can never catch a break! Anywho, we all know I'm training a green Belgian Draft Horse named Ray. We also know I'm training horses at my current barn, most especially Gemma. Well. Ray has a bad rep at my barn for being "too green", "wild", "unable to handle". However this is all untrue. Why? Because none except me is giving him what he needs to become a good horse. So his owner and I are moving him to another barn.

Now now, don't worry. This in no way means I'm leaving my current barn and Gemma and/or leaving Ray. This just means I will now be training at two different barns. I know. I'm a busy woman! Basically Saturdays will be designated days for working at my current barn and being with Gemma, and any Sundays I can go to work with horses will be at Ray's new barn.

Why this barn?

We chose this barn for a multitude of reasons. Here, it'll be easier if I just break it all down for y'all.

-It has experience with Drafts

Unlike my current barn, this barn has, and has had, many drafts housed here. Therefore they have a better understanding of Ray's behavior and needs. He will have other draft horses he can be turned out with, and we will have access to better supplies for him. He will finally be able to safely socialize, and not be isolated in a tiny makeshift pen.

-Its centered around English

My current barn is both western and English. I have no problem with that! However, as he is still learning (green) having a barn that specializes in the one discipline he's learning will (in my opinion) be better for him to learn at. Especially since I'm going to advise his owner to take lessons with him, he will have someone strictly English with absolutely no western in there. (My trainer is anti-western for some odd reason, but she also hates Ray for some odd reason as well)

-the facility itself

The facility itself is very nice and well taken care of. There indoor and outdoor rings are gorgeous. They have very nice jumps and a cross country course with different levels of experience for Ray to climb up. They have huge stalls, very nicely furnished, and bedded nicely. The barn is air conditioned and heated, with two huge tack rooms, a lounge room, wash stalls, and cross ties for grooming and tacking up. This is obviously a nice barn, and since we can afford it, why skip out?

Ray will not be moving until the beginning of June. Until then we are going to try and lay low to avoid drawing any attention to ourselves from boarders and managers at the barn I lesson and work at. It's unfortunate that we are having to seperate Gemma and Ray as they did enjoy one another's company, but it is how it is.

~Until next time
