Riding In The Dairy State

Hey EA!

I’ve been visiting my grandparents in Minnesota for the past two weeks, and I’ve been riding! I found a great barn in Wisconsin that I rode at twice. The mare’s name is Elsa, and she was super sweet! So with that said, here we go...

So I only have videos of my second ride, so you’ll be seeing. It rained last night, so there was mud and it got on my boots. That was very slippery and my stirrups were NOT staying put. That’s why my leg was unsteady, just thought I’d clear that up.

After I warmed up in the indoor arena, we started with a gymnastics line; cross rails to begin and later a vertical. Then we added the vertical to the left and a cavaletti bending line.

Elsa’s strides are definitely shorter than Fames, so that took a little getting used to, but she was energetic and had a super cute jump!

I’m working on lead changes with Elsa. Luckily she’s really balanced, so wide turns were ok on the incorrect lead. She’s capable, I just need more practice asking her.

I was planning to take the short spot, and she had slowed down so I thought she would. But she had other plans! I was laughing afterwards, her long spot was so cute!

After this, we tried doing the gymnastics line the other direction!

She was so good, and I look forward to riding there (and hopefully showing there) next summer!
