Sooo I had an interesting trail ride yesterday (wow was it only yesterday? It feels like so much longer)
So we got a bit lost trying to find where to go because the guy who owns the horses said to turn into the driveway with the white flag and we did... but ended up at some random persons house. Then we went into the driveway next to that and it was the right place.
At the start we had some time to get to know the horses then we hopped on and were off!! The horse I rode was called Blossom. A lot of it at the start was through thick New Zealand bush with only a small trail through it and lots of steep hills.

But soon we got to a wide path up a hill so me and my dad waited at the bottom while the others went ahead and we cantered up the hill. (My dad used to ride a lot when he was younger so he knew how to canter)
It was amazing. I've only cantered a few times before but never this fast. I wasnt expecting her to be that fast because she had a really slow walk so I got left behind a bit at the start :joy:
At the top of the hill there was a big clearing with a beautiful view

We cantered at two more places but on the third canter something bad happened. My dad fell off.
I thought he would just get up again but he didn't. He lay there for a bit but luckily wasnt unconscious. He could move his arms and legs so they weren't broken but he had really bad pain in his back. There was no signal so the guide rode back to call an ambulance. We were waiting in the burning sun for almost two hours which wasnt fun. It felt like I was burning thought my clothes. The ambulance couldnt get to us in the bush so they had to send a helicopter.

He was put on the helicopter and there was enough room on the helicopter for me, my sister, and my brother to hop on too. It was my first time on a helicopter which was pretty cool. We got to the hospital and my mum came and picked us kids up while he went in.
The paramedics thought he might of had a broken pelvis but luckily he had no broken bones and its just muscle damage.

I'm so glad he is ok now, he is at home now and can walk a little bit which is good.
This is why I would never ride without a helmet. His head hit the ground really hard and he could of had brain damage or even been dead if it wasn't for the helmet. Always wear your helmet guys, it could save your life.
Sorry that was so long, I wasnt expecting to type that much :joy:
If you read all that then well done :+1: 🏻

Oh my gosh, sorry to hear what happened to your dad! Helmets really do save lives, I've had some bad falls and it could've been so much worse. Hope he makes a speedy recovery!
