My First English Show!

Hello, EA! Welcome back to another post! Hope you all are having a fantastic day/night! This weekend I went to an English schooling show with Flicka, and it was our very first time showing in English! Here’s how it went!

Warm-Up Class

My first class of the day was just a warm up class where Flicka and I just went in and got a feel for the arena while the announcer called out commands. There were no placings, but it was nice to get a feel for the arena as I had only been in that arena a couple times before, and that was a awhile ago.

English Pleasure

Next class was English Pleasure. Flicka was a good girl, she didn’t have her head as low as I wanted it to be, but that’s okay since we’re both still learning English. We didn’t place, but I was still proud of how we did.

English Pleasure Stock Type

The next class we entered was English Pleasure Stock Type. Very similar to our previous class, but instead of it being all types of horses, this class was for the horses with a stock-type build. Flicka did great, still wasn’t as collected as I’d like her to be, but she just doesn’t have the muscle for that yet. We got 4th place in this class, which I was surprised, but so happy with!

English Equitation

Our last class of the day was English Equitation. I rode pretty good considering I haven’t been doing English long, but the others in the arena we a lot more experienced, so we didn’t place. It was still a good class for us, and I’m very happy with how it went.

That was Flicka and I’s very first time showing in English! I think we did great, but we definitely do have to keep practicing. I need to work on getting Flicka the muscle in her neck and poll so she’s able to collect her head, and I also need to work on my lower legs and keeping them aligned with my shoulders. I think we had a good show, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us! Anyway, thank you guys for reading my post! I hope to see you guys next time!
