Lesson Review 8/24/20

Good morning!

So on Monday I had another riding lesson. It went really well.

When I got there, I of course got Rudy out and groomed him. Afterwards I put on the bareback pad then brought him to the arena.

First, I had him follow me a couple laps around the arena just to connect more and get his attention. Then I had him side to the mounting block. I took off his halter and wrapped the lead rope around his neck to use as a neck rope. Then I hopped on.

For about 5-10 minutes I was walking around, then I had him trot. He did well for me and we trotted around a few laps, then the same the other direction. After that I asked him for a lope, and it didn't take too much urging to get him into a stride, thankfully. He was being a little slow and bumpy, but it was a lope, so I had him go around a couple laps, then I stopped him and let him take a small break while getting lots of pats. Then I had him turn around and lope the other way. This time it was much smoother and nicer. He did really well for me that time so I didn't make him run too long. I decided to stop riding there while I was on a good note, but I still had about 10 mins left so I did a little more liberty. I walked with him following and then had him trot. Afterwards I worked on some more sideing then finished the lesson.

I gave him a carrot and his dinner, then fed dinner to the girls, and that was my lesson! :grin:

I had a wonderful time and I'm definitely making a lot of progress with him :smile: I'm very proud of how far we've come, now to the point where I'm loping tackless :)
