Today was pretty good! Here's my review of it.
Grooming + Tacking up
I brushed him down and picked his hooves. He stood still and didn't make any fuss about anything, which was good. I decided to ride bareback today so I put on the bareback pad then his bitless bridle, and brought him to the arena.
Riding
Today I planned on walking & trotting, and if I felt comfortable enough halfway through, maybe a lope.
I walked around for a little while until I got used to the feeling again, and asked for a trot.
He decided he didn't want to trot. He decided he wanted to try to scare me by going into a lope instead. So you know what? I let him lope :joy: He gave himself more work, so I let him work.
I let him run about 1 lap then stopped since it's not what I asked for. I walked a little then asked for a trot. He went into a very good trot, so I kept him going at that pace for a little while. I then let him walk for awhile to cooldown cause he's fat and not used to the excersize :joy: :joy:
I asked for a trot again, and he gave me a lope again. This time I let him go longer, cause he kept giving me an attitude so I kept him running until I started feeling unbalanced and needed him to stop or slow down and he stopped trying to buck. It took a few laps, so not much. But it was enough to make me feel very confident in my riding, cause I just loped bareback and rode 2 bucks and I was fine!! Woohoo!!
I walked more again and trotted a little bit more. I had plenty of time so I did some cloverleaf patterns around the arena at a walk then trot, which Rudy did nicely. And that concluded my lesson :)
Untacking
This part was really simple cause my sister was in a little bit of a rush. So I just put away the bareback pad and his bridle then put him in his stall. I of course gave him a couple carrots too :)
I hope you enjoyed reading about my lesson  It was a good one! Have a wonderful week and stay healthy!
