G'day everyone!

Today I'm gonna showcase my entry for the #CountryChallenge I chose my home, Australia, as the country that this horse is inspired by!

Australia is a country under the commonwealth and was settled in 1788, a fleet of Brit's ships camed over after captain Cook "found" this island with "no people on it" there were Aboriginals, the rightful owners of the land.

But the Brits wanted to make a "penal colony", a place to put prisoners because they had tonnes of em'. So basically the majority of the population was prisoners. They were uneducated and lacking money, so they didn't have the best speech. That is probably the reason why we Aussie's have such amazing phrases and grasp of the queens English ;)

Anyway fast forward a few decades and a man that wore armour made of farming equipment (Ked Nelly), a couple world wars, deciding if we wanted to be a republic, said yeah, na to that. One of our Prime minister's disappears after going for a swim at the beach. Us just being complete madlads. And you get to the current Straya..

Lots of grog, 4WD, dogs, horses, cattle, mines, "big" cities, tiny towns ect. Wearing thongs (flip flops as you drongos call em') our country is burning, Scomo decides to go on holiday the silly billy. And yeah, protests in Melbourne about climate change.. anyways this country is great but the people that live in it are even better. You refer to strangers as "mate" you can get sausages and bread from the local Bunnings. It's honestly great here and you should visit.

I wanted to make a horse that represents Australia and the Aussie's that live here, and fair dinkum I think I did an alright job!

Name:

Aussie's ed name is Fair Dinkum, this is one phrase of many that is commonly used by us Australians. There are a lot of different phrases meaning a lot of different things. But I chose this one because it means 'real' and sometimes 'seriously?' But I went off of the 'real' meaning because he is a very trustworthy horse.

Breed:

He is an Australian Stock Horse stallion, I chose the breed ASH because it is a hardy breed from Australia. It is used for everything from stock work to eventing! Much like Australia itself, we have deserts and rainforests, cities and small towns with less than 500 people. In fact, the town if Cooladdi has four people living in it, yes you read correctly, four!!

Brand:

Aussie's brand is the commonwealth star, Australia is part of the commonwealth. Also the 7 points represent the 7 states and territories, TAS, QLD, NSW, WA, NT, SA, VIC.

Colour:

Aussie is a liver chestnut. I chose this colour because it is so flipping hot that we get tanned very quickly and if you go to the beach a lot your hair gets bleached by the salt and the sun. So I figured that a liver chestnut would be the perfect colour. I made his mane short and standing up (There's a probably a name but I don't know it) because there's a lot of bogans going around with mullets... No more needs to be said.

Dam and Sire:

Aussie's Dam is Fair Go, a 2007 flaxen liver chestnut ASH that has done lots of cow work. She has been to national championships for team penning and occasionally is a bulldogging horse.

Aussie's sire is He'll Be Right, a 2005 dark bay ASH. He is an Eventer and has competed in multiple FEI events. He has also done some cutting and feedlot work but primarily is an Eventer.

Temperament:

Aussie is a fairly laid back stallion, he loves going out in the pasture with the other horses and enjoys spending time with his owner. He is quite loud, though. At shows or just in the stable he can neigh and paw the ground a bit. He is very friendly with other horses.

Origins:

He was bred in Canberra but was moved up to the Gold Coast when he was 3 for more extensive training and more competing once he was 5. He is now competing in multiple Events every month.
