A/N POV
Jake stares at his phone, mind beginning to spin. He couldn't figure out where Riki could be. He needed to save the younger boy but how? He didn't have any clue.
Sensing the worry and panic visible on Jake's face, Areum also gets a little worried.
"Is everything ok?"
She inquires looking at Jake who was looking at his phone. He raises his head up and looks at Areum.
"Hm? Oh yeah! Everything's fine."
He answers forcing a smile. Areum was smart and quick enough to catch the fake smile.
"You don't seem so though. Tell me if anything is wrong. I can help you."
She says with eyes full of concern and love. Jake looks at her in the eyes. It takes only moments for him to understand that this crazy girl will do anything for him. He smiles. This time a true one full of iration.
"You're too good for the world, you know? You're always trying to help everyone."
Areum chuckles.
"Thanks for the compliment. Now, can you tell me how I can help you?"
The smile on Jake's face immediately fades. There wasn't even any relish of it. Who'd say this guy was smiling only moments ago?
"I'm not sure. Riki had called. He's in danger. He sounded so scared! He was asking me for some money. Before we could finish talking, someone started shouting at him. I don't know exactly what happened but he is probably getting beaten up."
Areum furrows her eyebrows and thinks for a few moments. Without looking at Jake, she speaks up. Her gestures saying that she's trying to figure out and things.
"I think he's at school. He goes back home from school with his car. He was telling me stories about his school the other day on dms. He doesn't stop anywhere since his father doesn't like him roaming around before going home. He goes out to play or hang out after coming back home and having a shower. And even if he did stop somewhere, he wouldn't ask you for help when he can call his driver and ask him to save him."
She then looks at Jake who was already looking at her.
"I'm 110% sure that he's at school. Let's go."
She says and proceeds to leave. Riki studies at a renowned international school. It won't be hard to find his school. It's going to be even more easier since she used to study there. As she starts to leave, Jake immediately slams his locker door and starts to run behind her, shouting her name.
"Areum! Areum!"
The girl slows down on her feet and glances back at her crush who was trying his best to run to her by dodging the crowd of the students. As he runs to her, she turns around and smiles.
"Relax relax! I'm not running away."
Jake stops running and chuckles.
"I'm not saying you're running away. Just wanted to catch up with you and wanted to ask something."
"Go ahead."
She responds while turning around and starting to walk again. Jake starts to follows her.
"We have no weapon or anything. What if they're goons? The people who are hurting Riki of course."
"Clearly you don't know me."
"What?"
Areum smirks and looks back at Jake.
"Wait and watch, Aussie boy."
Jake gulps. Although he has known Areum for a short while only, he has learnt a lot about her. And one of the many things he has learnt is that what Areum says, she does. There's nothing that she can't do. He still re how she changed from the sweetest to the deadliest person alive when her sister slapped her brother on his head. He can sense that if there's something going on, she'll be no less than the Areum she was that day.
The two take a taxi and within 10 minutes, they reach the school. Jake usually walks to Riki's school and it takes quite a while which is why he was kinda surprised to find out that it took only 10 minutes. Areum gets out of the taxi and checks if the school's main entrance was open or not. Thankfully, it was. If it wasn't, Areum would be climbing the walls and getting in. It wouldn't have been a problem for her. She opens the gate making a kind of creepy noise and gets in. Jake quickly finishes paying for the taxi and follows her in.
"When I was a student here, the class of 12th grade was on the 2nd floor, left side. I'm assuming it's still there. Let's go."
Jake nods. Although he had thousands of questions to ask, he didn't try to raise them and just followed her instead. Since Areum was a student here, she knew the way around. She knew it quite clearly that the elevators were turned off once the teachers left the school campus. The only way to go the upper floors were the stairs. She takes quick steps up and reaches the 2nd floor in no time. She hurries to the left corner of the floor.
"This is it! This is the first class of 12th graders!"
She exclaims with a smile. She was extremely happy to be able to find the class of 12th graders. She slid opened the door. The glasses and the door, both were soundproof which is why they couldn't hear anything. As she opens the door, both worry and rage start to build up inside her at the same time.
"YOU BA***DS!!!!"
She curses out loud causing the male students standing in front of her facing their backs to turn around.
"Well...well...well...if it isn't our old student Areum herself!"
The leader of small group of 4 speaks up crossing his arms and smirking.
"Jake, hold my bag."
She whispers as she takes off her backpack and hands it over to Jake.
"I don't have enough time and wish to waste behind you and your worthless friends. Give a side. I'll take my friend and go back."
The guy smirks again.
"Oh really?"
This time Areum also smirks.
"I hope you what I did to you, Jaewon."
The smirk on the guy's face faded. It turned into a death glare full of anger.
"And that's why I'm waiting for you. I want to teach you a lesson before I leave this school, Areum Noona."
He says turning his hands into fists.
"N-noona, please don't mess with them. T-they...they..can do anything."
A weak voice speaks up. It was clear that the owner of the voice was struggling to speak. It doesn't even take the fraction of a second for Jake to understand that the voice is Riki's.
"Riki!!"
Jake calls out to him shouting. Panic and worry seizing him completely. He runs in. The boys step aside and keep smirking as he sits down beside an extremely injured Riki. Tears start to build up in his eyes.
"R-Riki, its me, Jake. P-please...keep your eyes open."
He cries as he puts the younger boy's head on his lap. His white shirt gets covered in the blood that was continuously flowing from the back of Riki's head. Seeing Jake and Riki like this, the girl couldn't hold in her anger anymore.
"You're going to pay for this, Jaewon. That too, right now."
She says clenching her fists, her eyes burning with anger. The look in her eyes was so frightening that even the bravest person alive would start crying.
"We'll see."
The bully scoffs rolling his eyes. He gestures the boy beside him to go on and fight. The boy nods and starts to run at Areum with a clenched fist. The attack wasn't a well planned one. Areum easily dodges it by moving an inch to the left. The boy stops and prepares to turn around but Areum's brain and body worked faster than his. She, without wasting a single second, grabs both of the boy's hands and pins him to the ground by gripping her right hand around the back of his neck.
"What made you think you're stronger than me?"
She whispers. The boy couldn't respond. He just stays quiet. She twists his arms making him wince in pain and then lets go off the boy on the ground and looks at the others.
"Now. You three. Who's coming now?"
Almost immediately after the words leave her mouth, two boys start running to her at the speed of light. Areum doesn't try to dodge the attacks. Instead, she punches one of them in the stomach and kicks the other in his...well...guess it. Both of them fall on the ground groaning in pain.
"KIM AREUM!!!"
Jaewon growls.
"What?"
Areum calmly responds. The boy was at a loss of words. He didn't know how to take this conversation any far.
"What do you want to say? Do you even have anything to say? Robbing people off only for money.... Get that sht by yourself, you punk! Earn some money if you need it that bad!"
Jaewon stays quiet looking at the ground. Areum goes up to the boy. Her facial expressions colder than ice. She brings out her purse from the pocket of her jeans and takes out quite a sum of money. She pulls the highschool boy's hand, and literally slams the money on it.
"I know why you need money. Just know this isn't the right way. Here's some cash. Hope it helps. Get a part time job, you jerk. If you can't get any, me. I'll be more than happy to be able to help."
She then moves away and goes to Riki and Jake. Being the quick witted guy he is, Jake had already tied a handkerchief around the younger one's head to stop the bleeding. The bleeding had stopped but Jake's cries didn't. He had also called 119 and the ambulance was here. The siren was ringing right outside the campus.
"The ambulance!! It's here!!"
Jake says. Areum nods her head up and down and holds Riki's hand. She changes her sharp cold voice into a sweet and caring voice within seconds. Although Jake wasn't in proper mind, he couldn't but question her duality.
"Riki, dear, I need you to stand up. Ok?"
Riki nods and tries his best to stand up. Jake immediately engages in helping him. He puts his hands around the injured boy's shoulders and starts walking him out. Areum follows them. Before leaving, she looks at Jaewon for one last time.
"You should consider yourself lucky that Riki is a kind kid and that I'm his friend. Otherwise, you would've been getting the transfer certificate handed to you tomorrow. I'll try my best to make sure that doesn't happen. Just don't take it for granted and try to change for the better."
She says heading out. The boy starts fuming in anger. He slams his hand on the wooden desk in front of him. Was it actually anger or regret? Who knows?
Thoughts start to race inside Jake's head as they settle inside the ambulance. He has calmed down a bit which is allowing him to think about everything that just happened. Who was that boy? How does Areum know him? Why does it sound like they both have something against each other? And why did Areum hand him so much money? Does she know something about him that no one else does? If yes, then what? Thousands of question keep staring back at Jake without any answer.
Ik this chapter sucks. I'm sorry y'all. I'm not really well atm. I'll try to write better once I'm ok again.
