Calithil was born and raised in the elven realm of Lothlorien during the Third Age. As a child, she spent much of her time in the gardens with her parents, who cultivated a wide variety of herbs, vegetables, fruits, and flowers. When she wasn't in the gardens, she was in the library reading about all there was to know about plants, the magic hidden within nature, and how to use these capabilities.

Her mother would tell her stories of the two great Trees of Valinor and of the tree Galathilion. She would also share with her stories of the Valar: Yavanna the Fruit-Giver, Vana the Ever-young, Estë the healer, and of the Istari Aiwendil.

Her father would take her to the tops of the Mallorn trees to show her the brilliance of the night sky, telling her stories of the stars and their constellations through songs and poems as she gazed in wonder and awe.
